Emma is a woman who has had to handle herself alone. Although quite young, she immediately shows her maternal side. In a touching scene, she cradles an injured Ike in her arms. The other boys stare silently and we realize that probably none of them have ever had a proper mother. Another memorable scene (for females anyway) is where Emma gets to serve lemonade to the shirtless, sweaty riders. What a lucky lady! Emma develops a special relationship with Lou, and especially Jimmy. Emma and Jimmy are held captive in a fort together and she tells Jimmy about her past. She was once married and had a baby who got sick and died. Her husband turned to the bottle and left her alone to fend for herself. Jimmy, feeling protective says he would never leave her and they share a kiss. Emma pushes him away, she tells him that he is a remarkable young man, but he is too young for her. Sam comes along to rescue them and it is clear where Emma's heart lies. Her husband later returns but is killed by the end of the episode paving the way for her to marry Sam. Emma later married Sam and was no longer seen after season 1. Apparently, Melissa Leo was fired because she wasn't sexy enough!!!
