The Kid

By Shannon

The Kid, what's not to like? With those blue eyes, sandy colored hair, and that bright smile...no one could resist! He was a young man who only wanted an honest days pay for an honest days work. Working for Russel, Majors and Waddell allowed him to do just that.

He was a young rider for the Pony Express, riding hard day and night making his mark in american history. Little did Kid know that riding for the Pony Express was going to change his life forever. There were many hardships that entailed in his daily duties. It was where fighting for what was right came as second nature, and where the Civil War was always knocking on the front door. The Kid was very determined and opinionated when the time came to choose sides, as it was important to him to fight for his homeland. It was a time when the Civil War drew a line between him and his fellow friends...his family.

It was always in his nature to be an honest, compassionate, and caring young man. In the "wild west" those qualities may not count for much, but in the heart of a young woman, it made all the difference in the world.

There was nothing Kid wouldn't do for the fellow young rider turned girlfriend, Louise...including risking his own life to save and protect her. Despite all the hardships and tears that were shed, the Kid and Louise put all aside when they became united as one.

Just to think...it all started because he turned out to be a good secret keeper!
