KNOWN FACTS: 1) Mary Louise McCloud took her children away from Boggs, (according to Boggs). She died in 1850, possibly from consumption.

2) Louise, Jeremiah and Teresa were put in a Catholic orphanage.

3) Five years later, in 1855, Louise runs away from the orphanage in an attempt to make a life for her family.

4) Louise makes it to St. Joseph, Missouri, and finds work as a laundress in a brothel run by a man named Wicks.

5) In 1856, Wicks rapes Louise. Charlotte Rowan, a prostitute who had befriended Louise helps her escape to St. Louis. In St. Louis, Louise cuts off her hair and starts dressing and acting like a boy, calling herself Lou.

6) April 1860, Russel, Majors and Waddell found the Pony Express. Louise gets a job at the Sweetwater, Nebraska Territory waystation, along with five other riders. One of the riders, known as The Kid, finds out that she is a girl, but keeps it a secret. Kid and Louise begin to fall for each other

7) Boggs finds out that his children are in an orphanage and goes to get them, however Jeremiah and Teresa are the only ones there.

8) Louise gets time off to go visit Jeremiah and Teresa, whom she hasn't seen in five years. Upon arriving at the orphanage, she finds out that Boggs has taken them, but she denies that he is her father.

9) Louise, with the help of the other riders at the station, tracks down Boggs, and gets Jeremiah and Teresa back. Boggs tries to shoot Louise, and is killed by The Kid.

10) Late in 1860 Louise and the Kid admit their attraction for each other and become involved. This ends badly early 1861.

11) April (?) 1861, Russel, Majors and Waddell move the riders to Rock Creek, Nebraska Territory.
