I am very moved and honored by the responses evoked by my art. You gave
life to my art through your words. I can hardly improve on what Paul Valéry
(1871-1945) said so well before me, I'd paraphrase the essence of what he
said as follows. Each work of art demands its response and the urge driving
us to create is inseparable from our human condition. Inspiration, written
or not, gives rise to discussion, if only between the mind and itself. All
the poets here have fulfilled that need and are celebrated for their
extraordinary performances.

Patina

Patroclus shows his face to me
but not his eyes, hidden from view
behind the view-finder, they are secret.
Pavonine iridescence creates a semitone
figured in self-seeking, it is transitory
this feeling that I am just a semblance.
I want to fill his film, if any shots be left,
me a tramontane showing this Greek
wyche grass abloom in the dying light.
