The earliest archaeological evidence of angels to date appears on the stela of ur-Nammus (2250 B.C), and shows angels flying over the head of this king while he is in prayer.
The belief in angels is found in the history of all nations. In Islam (Koran) they belief that everyone has two angels one to the left and one to the right,. The one on the right records the good deeds and the one on the left the bad deeds. Hebrews (Torah )believe that there are four archangels, Michael , Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel.. While the Bible mentions only two, Michael and Gabriel. Just as angels are believed in, in many nations, people have many ideas and different beliefs about angels. On valentine's Day chubby cherubs holding bows and arrows are the norm. They are associated with love. Nowhere do you see angels with more than two wings, but the Bible mentions angels with up to six wings. Most christians and others believe everyone has a guardian angel who watches over them.
There are a variety of different beliefs about the origins of angels. I hold the Biblical belief about angels. Here is what the Bible says about the origins of angels.
1.Angels were created by God:
Thou, Lord alone has made heaven, the heaven of heavens,
with all their host,(angels) the earth, and all things
that are therein, the seas and all that is therein, and
thou preservest them all! And the host of heaven worships
thee.(Nehem:9-6)
For by him were all things created that are in heaven, and
that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be
thrones, dominions, principalities, or powers, all things
were created by Him, and for Him.(Coloss:1:l6)
2. Method of origin
Angels were created by a special act of God,they did not evolve.Praise ye him all his angels, praise ye him all his hosts(angels)
Let them praise the name of the Lord, for he commanded and they
were created. (Psalml48:2,5).
Their number was fixed at creation. They neither reproduce or die.
Jesus talking about the resurrection said: For in the resurrection
they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as
the angels of God in heaven. (Mathew22:30)
Neither can they die anymore: for they are equal unto the angels.
3. Time of origin.
Before the earth was,the angels were allready created
Where were thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?
When the morning stars sang together,
and all the sons of God shouted for joy? (Job 38:1,4,7)
Declare if thou has understanding.
4. Purpose of existence
"They were created to glorify Christ."
And again when he brought in the first begotten (Jesus)
into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship
him. (Hebrews:1:6)
Thou art worthy, O Lord to receive glory and honour, and power:
for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure thy are
and were created. (Revel4:11).
equal to them. How is this possible you may wonder. I accepted Jesus plan of salvation , for my life. I believe he died on the cross for my sins,
rose again from the dead, and that he will come back in full power and glory
for his church, and that all the faithfull angels will be with him .
Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. "
