In
Summer '99, after a trip to San Francisco, a small group of mountain bikers,
skaters and fitness fanatics got together to play a wild game inspired
by RollerJam and the American Roller Derby League.
With limited resources we gathered cycling helmets, pads and retro quad skates. After practising on Dorset beach promenades and parks, a few unofficial derby races were held on a banked cycle track in London. Update 2001 - Unfortunately the league has disbanded at the present time but hopefully the game will return to these shores in the future... Thanks to all the players, volunteers and bemused spectators who took part. And to the skaters of California who inspired us. This site is for you. |
