At the forefront of a rising tide of violence brought on by Galbadia's war declaration is a SeeD cadet named Squall Leonhart. Serious to a fault, Squall has earned himself the reputation of being a lone wolf. A chance encounter with the free-spirited Rinoa Heartilly, however, turns his universe upside down. Having thrived on discipline, Squall finds Rinoa's carefree attitude fascinating. Yet there is no time to ponder these thoughts, for the job of dealing with the sorceress behind Galbadia's irrational hostility ha fallen to SeeD and Squall.

And I thought Final Fantasy VII was good! Square changed everything that they felt was old with their past Final Fantasy titles, and by the looks of things that was just about everything. Anime-type art, short characters wandering around the screen, and MP are just some of the things they removed. Now you have to draw spells from your enemies in order to use them and characters are more human-like and taller. Graphics have been vastly improved and battles now take place on a full screen. Most of these improvements are for the better, but some have their share of problems. The draw system is good, in a way. You can Cast (immediatly use) or Stock (keep for later) magic drawn from enemies and you can stock up to 100 of any magic. But in order to have good stats by junctioning magic that means you will spend a long time in battle drawing from enemies. But with enough patience you can have lots of magic for your own use. I didn't really have a problem with it, but it can get boring continueously drawing magic from enemies (but it pays off in the end). The Guardian Force system is a nice addition in my oppinion. Instead of using MP to summon a Guardian, they have HP which takes over your HP when they are being summoned. They have a guage which shows how fast they can be summoned. Guardian Forces are a lot like pets, because the more you use them the better the relationship with it and the faster they will come to your aid. Weapons are a lot neater this time around. Instead of finding new weapons in treaure chests or buying them in a store you have to find different items (usually rare) to upgrade your current weapon to a stronger one. This makes the game a little more challenging since you have to go practically all the way around the world to get some of these items. The story's theme is love and Square sure did show it. The way these characters stick in your mind (forever) is simply incredible. The characters act more like humans, and you'll notice this when you see the character's different body motions and actions. They even blink their eyes at random intervals. And don't even get me started on the music (it's incredible!). While this game has its minor problems the great story-line, loveable characters, and plenty of secrets and sidequests will have you over looking all of them. Take my advice, GO TRY IT OUT!!!
