In the raver culture you find visionaries. Genius. Freaks of all colors.
Day-Glo, glitter, angel wings, nitrous, e, black lights, tongue piercings,
gropers, cross-dressers, theatre-mongers, structural engineers. These
sorts of people erect burning structures against the sky and throw themselves
into hot, burning deserts to have hallucinations and be naked without
shame and write like drunken poets while people in full-body make-up
stagger by.
platypus
love had its roots in something like that.
At the Ty Beanie Babies
site, a scary, pastel-clad world, you will find mention of a creature
named "Patti the Platypus":
"Patti the
Playtus Ran into Patti one day while walking
Believe me she wouldn't stop talking!
Listened and listened to her speak
That would explain her extra large beak!"
Bad poetry, yes? Very
bad poetry. Patti the Platypus comes in 3-4 different shades of magenta
and purple, and is plush, soft and velvety. The Ty Beanie Baby world
is a scary world, however.
So
Greeter Dan, the founder of Platypus Love, from whom the seeds of Platypus
Love will spread through the entire world til it becomes a bright, happy
place, discovered these platypi and realized that he needed to rescue
them from the banality they were born into, and give them the love that
they deserve. And so Greeter Dan has dedicated his life to rescuing
lost purple platypi and finding them loving homes.
Some of Greeter Dan's platypi wear necklaces, some plastic baubles,
but no matter the accesories, each of them finds a personality of its
own. Platypus Love platypi can fly with orange wings, turn somersaults
in the air, and they are fun at parties. Respect their need for privacy,
however, and their somewhat shy nature; these are sensitive animals
and easily hurt. But give them a safe place to play and they will frolic
with wild abandonment.
I, the one who has created this particular Platypus Love web site, am
one who has been touched by the strange madness of this purple-pelted
religion. This site originally started as a very small educational tour
about the au natural platypus, but evolved when I realized how many
philosophical and counter-culture references there are about this creature.
Thus the site evolved, and I knew I had to share what I found with others.
