Epsilon Gamma: The 134th Kappa Sigma Chapter
The Epsilon Gamma Chapter was founded April 7, 1941 by:
Joe Aillet,
Leon Brooks,
J.C.Love,
B.H.Rainwater, and
Joe D. Waggonner at The Louisiana Polytechnic Institute (commonly known as Louisiana Tech University) in Ruston, LA.
Epsilon Gamma loses it's charter
On January 14, 1997 the Student Organizations Committe recommended that Louisiana Tech University withdraw recognition of [the Epsilon Gamma Chapter of] Kappa Sigma Fraternity through Summer Quarter 2001 based upon failure to adequately respond to the terms of ealier sactions placed upon the Chapter and because of continued violations of the University's standards of conduct.
The Fight to Stay
Epsilon Gamma appealed this decision to the University Administrative Review Board and to President Reneau. A recommendation that,"[the] Kappa Sigma Alumni Board of Control, supported by the National Organization of Kappa Sigma, be allowed to present a plan for the reorganization of Epsilon Gamma Chapter to the Student Organizations Committee at the end of 24 months (February 1,1999)." One stipulation of this recommendation, however, was that no former active member or pledge be allowed into the chapter.

Coming Back to Tech: Kappa Sigma doesn't give up...
In the fall of 2001 Alumni decided the time was right to restart the chapter and started an intense recruitment effort seeking previously un-affiliated students. On September 23, 2001 a group of 70+ men were pledged to the Epsilon Gamma Chapter.
New Brothers Initiated
After over seven months of brotherhood development 33 outstanding men were initiated into the order. Among those who participated in the installation were the Brothers of Delta-Delta (University of Florida), Nu-Rho (Southeastern Oklahoma State University), Mu-Tau (Austin Peay), Theta-Mu (Northwestern), and Gamma-Psi (Oklahoma State), and the Director of Membership Development Vince Ware. Also present were Brothers of Nu-Omicron (UT/Dallas).
Epsilon Gamma: An Improved Chapter
With the 33 initiates Kappa Sigma's Epsilon Gamma Chapter became the third largest fraternity on campus. It is at that time that the Assistant Alumni Advisor wrote to the new men: "...Due to your hard work, dedication and commitment, Epsilon-Gamma has risen, Phoenix like from the ashes of disgrace and despair into the dawn of a bright new day..."
