On the 19th of March,1976, a baby boy is born at the Roman hospital «Policlinico Umberto I» and his weight is 4kg and 100grams. His parents, Maria Laura and Giuseppe, his brothers Fernando and Katia, welcome him warmly in the family. His father, a devoted Laziale, works on the railways «Nuovo Salario» and Alessandro enjoys the love of his parents and brothers, in the quarter of Cinecitta. A problem on his back and the advice of his doctor to start a sport, makes him play football, in the afternoons with his brother and his friends. Also, his father puts him in a football school in Cinecitta, and from the age of 8 he starts playing in a real football team. At that point, noone could guess that, this boy would be one of the best defenders of the world.

One day his father reads in the newspaper an insert, that says that the S.S. Lazio is looking for young talents to play in the juvenille team of Lazio. His father thinks that this is a chance for his son, so he and Alessandro go to San Basilio's field, called Stefanino on the 13th of June, where it would be a test for 300 youngsters. Mr. Patarca and mr. Pulici are immediately interested in him and soon he receives a membership card. He plays in tournaments, one of them is «Torneo Aquilotto», the starting point for all Lazio players. On the 12th of March 1994, Zeman adds his name on the list of the players who would play in the game against Udinese. Nesta enters at the 33rd minute of the second half, replacing Casiraghi, and he plays for 12 minutes, which were enough to gain compliments from his coach and his teammates.

His career in Lazio starts when the team is facing relegation and after the replacement of Zeman with Zoff, he's called to play. His first goal for Lazio is in the season 97/98, against Guirmaraes in the UEFA cup. Lazio owes him the second Italian Cup of its history, because thanks to his goal against Milan, Lazio is the winner. After a serious accident in the game against Austria, he has to stay out for six months. His efforts to recover are amazing and Eriksson calls him to play in the Italian Cup, in the game against Inter. Couto's injury gives him the ticket and he enters the field. During the retreat in Vigo di Fassa ,his teammates gives him the captain's armband. He starts leading Lazio after his comeback in the fields and the victory in the European SuperCup is the proof ,as well as Lo Scudetto and the third Italian Cup, in the season 99/00.

He was noticed by Cesare Maldini, who was the trainer of the Italian Under-21 team, and then Sacchi, the coach of the National Team calls him, when Ferrara gets injured. But even if he is amazing in the trainings, Sacchi doesnt dare to make him play. On October 1996, he starts playing with Squadra Azzura and he continues playing until now. The National team's coaches, Maldini, Zoff select him and in the Euro2000, he is named one of the best defenders and he is, along with his friend and teammate in the National team, Cannavaro, selected in the Euro2000 dream team.

His best friend is a man called Antonio and he has a girlfriend, with whom he lives in his apartement in Rome, called Gabriella. He has a Porche. His favorite actors are Demi Moore and Alberto Sordi and his favorite film is «Il Marchese del Grillo». He likes listening the songs of Ligabue and sleeping. The color he prefers is black and his favourite dish is the gnocchi. Nesta wears the number 13 both in Lazio and the National team because it's his lucky number. Lazio fans, his teammates and his coach, all believe that he deserves the captain's armband, because he is a true leader and can represent the team. He is the symbol of Lazio and the city of Rome. When he was young, Lazio's eternal opponents, Roma, has offered him a contract but he rejected it. Many clubs want him and are ready to pay his value and more to have him in their team but as the president himself says, he isn't for sale, and he like Roma's captain, Totti and Milan's ,Maldini, is like he born inside Lazio's Biancoceleste jersey and he will finish his career in Lazio. All the Lazio population wish it and knows that it's probable to happen.
