Abraham,

May you rest in peace.. and find the freedom that you sought.

I love you, I miss you, and I hurt for you.
Your Brotha - Blaze

R.I.P my lil brotha Abraham Gelpi. Lost to us at the young age of 22 in 2003. Another young brother lost due to a system that does not care about its youth of color.

Before this young bro got out of prison, our sister called his parole officer "begging" and crying to her to allow my lil brotha to live with her in CT because if he went back to N.Y. he would be killed.

This P.O. coldly refused this plea for help and sent that kid into the hole he climbed out of, back into the Jungle; the war zone. Two days after his release, he died. On the eve of my birthday. This sad story is NOT an isolated incident, but the norm and prevelent in a society that doesn't care. It locks up our men, woman, and children by the millions and when they come out of prison, they are dropped back into the war-zone and hole they climbed out of with no support, training, preparation or safety-net... The result is they end up back in prison, orlike my only lil bro, they die...

There is a proverb that says: "It takes an entire village to raise a child.." In California alone, 33 prisons were built since 1980, but only 1 university.. That says alot about what this society thinks of our youth.. R.I.P Abie. you will never be forgotten:

Blaze..
