Kissed By a Rose

During an intense moment of clarity,
I saw a golden rose,
Perfect in every dimension,
Standing proudly in repose.
It seemed to stand majestic and tall
As if for me alone,
Beyond the grassy incline (upon a lil knoll)
Not far from my home.

A glimmer of dew upon its petal shown
Yards away yet still could see
That it sparkled and glistened, as diamonds rare,
And boasting it all for me.

It beckoned and swayed with the wind.
A message all its own
Calling me near, showing no fear,
Upon its airy throne.

It said it ruled this humble knoll,
Birds and bees at its command
With towering green - grassy sheaths
As battlements for his ants.

It said it endured long-lasting peace
But an omen was on its way
Riding the clouds with lightening spears
To engage it on this day.

I urged me home, concerned for life,
The noon was turning dark,
When I was headed for the fair
At the county - in the park.

Not moments did I close the door
Gust and wind whipped and lashed.
To the basement! Tornadoes here!
My father's bellowing blast.

My house was torn in many places.
Trees were ripped from the ground.
ands and bees and Rose-like-King
Did battle on that mound.

I thought of that - How I've been saved
By summoning me to its lair
Distracting me with birds and bees
From proceeding to the fair.

Now, as thunder raged and cursed about
Beside me - mother groaned
And the honorable Rose upon the mount
Fighting for life alone.

I made a dash, to steal away,
To save the Rose from this fate.
Threatening wind tore at my clothes
And father caught me at the gate.

Crying now, the storm had passed.
With it, night and rain and gust
All around are - abused and trashed
But to the mount is where I must

Go to see what had become
Of that gallant Rose that bloomed
Which kissed and wished me on back home
Detering me from my doom.

Battlements down, all was bare.
The Rose was surely gone.
Yet by saving my life at its own expense
Guaranteed a battle won.

Before I turned, I saw an ant troop
Carrying golden petals to its hole,
Last remnants of a vision so true
When I had been kissed by a Rose.
