We're Engaged!

As many of you know, Charlie is the wonderful man in my life, whom I am soooo very proud of. We met in 2002 while working at Wal-Mart Pharmacy ~ I, of course, was a tech...he was the intern. I guess fate really does have a way of twisting & turning situations to make sure destiny is not hindered. We were both actually involved at the time, but there was this incredible chemistry from the moment we looked at each other. Of course, neither of us said a word & went on with our lives as normal. Well, our relationships fizzled out AFTER he had headed back to school for his third year. So, I did it...I emailed him to see how he was doing...then, I called, can you believe it?? From then on, we have talked every night I believe. We have went from living 5 hours apart, to 2 minutes apart, & back to 3 hours apart now. BUT, our love has proven just how strong it is. He balances me out...I bounce off of the walls, & he is calm. BUT, he also has that funny side ~ don't ya 'Sweetpea??'...as do I, with my 'floppy chicken!!' I have no doubt in my mind, heart, or soul that he is 'the one'...the one & only man I am suppose to spend the rest of my life with. And I cannot think of anyone better to call my soulmate. Hopefully, we will soon be engaged to be married *if so, there will definitely be pics of the ring on here...lol*

Now, since I am on the subject of him, let me praise him a little on his accomplishments. He graduated with his PharmD from Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy in May 2004 ~ Dr. Charlie Southerland :) From there, he began his career at Wal-Mart Pharmacy...where he is a 'floater.' In other words, he goes where they need him from day to day...but recently, he has been pretty much in the same store, which is a good sign. Maybe, he can get the management position he wants soon. He has also taken over the role of father & husband in a way, on top of son & boyfriend. His dad, Charles, has been placed on active duty with the 278th out of Knoxville. So, he has been away from home for a while, & Charlie being the wonderful man that he is, moved home after graduation to help his mother & two younger brothers. As I said before, he is wonderful & unbelievably unselfish...he is willing to do anything he can to help anyone in need. I am truly blessed to have found such an angel!! I thank God every morning when I wake up & every night before I fall asleep for sending me such a love.

We're Heading to Hawaii to get Maui'd

= As of February 5, 2005, Charlie had officially 'popped' the question, which many of you were already aware of! What most of you don't know is exactly how he did it. So, here are the details if you are curious, like I would be! He was visiting me for the weekend, which also happened to be the weekend we were celebrating Valentine's Day. We were getting ready to leave for Bardstown, KY for the KY Dinner Train *his V'day gift from me*. Well, I was gathering up my purse, makeup, etc. to take with me and realized I had left the ring I regularly wear on the bathroom sink while I was getting ready. So, naturally I asked Charlie to go & grab it for me while I finished. He grumbled, as guys usually do. When he came back in the room, I had my hands full & was ready to walk out the door. We had almost made it out when I asked if I could have my ring. He turned around with this grin on his face & said nonchalantly, 'No...but you can have this one!' WOW ~ there it was...the most beautiful ring known to man! LOL ~ I am biased, I know. Anyways, he proceeded to get down on one knee & ask if I would marry him. By this time, I had dropped everything I had in my arms & was so excited...I kept saying 'YES, YES, YES!" He put the ring on my finger & got up to tell me that he loves me & wants to spend the rest of his life with me. Now, we all know that I just went through the whole day not looking at that ring...lol! I could not tell you how many times I actually looked down & thought, 'Wow...he really wants to marry me.' I don't think I stopped smiling! Well, the rest of the day was just as great...well, maybe not as great as him proposing...but wonderful, just the same. We visited Maker's Mark Distillery, where each of us dipped, signed, & dated a bottle of bourbon. Then, we spent the rest of the evening enjoying an amazing meal on the train. It was so perfect. I now have it all ~ the perfect FIANCE' & the perfect ring to go along with him! ;)

Ok ~ so, now that we are engaged, what's next? We have decided to not go the traditional route with a big wedding back home. Instead, we are heading to Hawaii to get MAUI'D! *I love how that sounds* We are planning to do so on October 11, 2005. Don't fret though ~ we are gonna have a reception for family & friends when we return, in honor of our new marriage. As I get more details, I will add them on here & on our 'Wedding Webpage' at theknot.com, which you can check out here:
