My grandfather Wilson Church was born in Buchanan Co.Vrginia,and lived out his life in that general area. When he moved to West virginia it was only a few miles away. He was a traveling preacher, and was away from home a lot. They say he was a faith healer. He was known quite well in the area, and everyone called him "Uncle Wils". Wilson and his brothers and sisters grew up in a hollow called "Spruce Pine", not far from "Hale Creek", just a little piece below Plgrams Knob, all of which lies along the Dismal River, in Buchanan County Virginia. --- George Church (their Dad) lived there most of his life.==They say that George was as much of a Mountain Man, Bee hunter, etc, as his father Joel Sr.was. --- Grandmother Margaret (Mammie) was a lady. She demanded that her grandchildren call her "Mammie. she allways wore a clean, starched, bonnet. and sometimes smoked a little pipe. She drank a little. According to her obits she lived to be 104. Actually she was born 1877 and died 1974 . Buried in The *****Horn Cemetary, on Compton Ridge, near Bradshaw W.Va
