If you can't accept people for who they are then you should do your best to ignore them and not interfere. It is time for America to bring in the new and condemn the old. Being a homosexual is no more a choice than being heterosexual. Which we all know is not a choice at all. Every single person HAS rights. Everyone needs to respect those. Name: Ted Meisner Website: La Ermita A Hermitage in the Marketplace Referred by: From a Friend From: Macon, GA Time: 1998-11-22 18:19:01 Comments: In general, gays are the most gentle, compassionate and loving people in the world. They are compassionate mostly because of their own personal inner suffering. They know what it means to feel hurt, rejected. Unfortunately, the world we live in has never been able to accept compassionate and gentle people. Even Jesus was killed for the same reason. What an honor it is to die for the same reason that Jesus died! Such people like Matthew must be very special to Jesus' heart. His martyrdom will help even more the changing of of the hearts filled with so much hatred, really of themselves which they take out on others, instead of being filled with love. Gays have no fear of loving another man intimately. As a result they have a tremendous capacity to love Jesus intimately. He has no hangups with gayness, nor with sex. For me heaven will be filled with gays. Men who love all! May each and every one of them/us overlook the hatred in His Church, and go directly to Him with their love. The reward is unbelievable. Matthew, the angels of the Lord have personally carried you to your loving Lord for the blessings reserved for every martyr. I too send you my love and thanks for your wonderful witness of love. The pastor said that gays were going to hell, in my opinion the ones that say those words will have to answer for it when Christ comes again. God made each and everyone of us, and God does not make mistakes...This I am sure of... Matthew went to sleep on that day and woke up in a better place.. I'm sorry for your lost, but I know your pain.See on May 28th,1998. I lost my brother (Brian Ward, age 31) to suicide. It was a big shock,he was one of those people who was always happy and laughing,he was a great brother, and friend, would do anything for any one.I'm having a hard time with his death, I just don't understand why, what happened. I'm hurt, mad, sad,he left me.I'm a military wife, I've been away from home for 16 years, before he died the last time I saw him was Christmas 1997, I talked with him on the phone a month before he died, he was in a new relationship and happy, very much in love.I have dreams of him and it tears at my heart I will never see him again on earth, (I know I will in heaven),I'll never hear his lovely voice,or feel his strong arms hug me.I never thought my family would have to go through something like this, I feel like my world is falling apart,My mom needs me and I can't be there for her as much as I would like, see she lost one son to death and my other brother is in prison for 10 years,he's 28 and will be 38 when he comes out,it's truely a parent's nightmare. May God bless you and yours,My prayers are with you.Brian and Matt are family now,and are watching over us, keeping us safe.If I can help in any way, please let me know, sometimes it makes me feel better to talk about Brian. A month after Brian died, we got orders to South Carolina So I've only been here 5 nonths and don't know anyone at all no one to talk to,I a lot of times feel so alone, and have to be strong for my mom, but sometimes I feel so weak. |

People must be made aware of how detrimental these crimes are to the human race. We will be the end of ourselves if we continue to destroy our own humanity. The way people live thier lives has no bearing on our individuality, unless we choose to inflict ourselves onto others. What a shame such a beautiful, innocent man should die for such a senseless, hateful criminal act. The world has become an emptier place without Matthew. |

I would hate to say everything happens for a reason, for there is no reason for one human being to take the life of another, especially for ones decision to live their life the way that makes them happy. It would be wonderful if all people could live in harmony, but the world is far from perfect, and there are many ignorant people that live in it. May you grow stronger from this day forth knowing that so many people have come forward to stand by your side! A friend in Virginia, Steve |

Two women were murdered here in Southern Oregon, the murderer with absolutely no remorse. Hoping your next life is full, and you will fulfill your dreams to the fullest...Love and Light to you, we know where you went when you passed over...and hoping that Jesus held you and let you know that you were/are loved. A prayer to Mathew from Cathie. (as a note, I didn't go to this site for this long simply because I knew I'ld cry...and I still did! These guys must get the maximum that the law will provide. My God people, must it take the suffering and death of another one of us for this world to understand that as human beings, we are all equal in the eyes of our maker, whoever, whatever our maker may be. If I could stop crying, I may be able to finish reading all responses here from all over the world. Perhaps tomorrow, maybe next month, probably never can I stop crying about man's inhumanity to man. Can this be, should this be a call for all men and women to come out, to be who you are as you should be, must be. It is in our strength and God only knows, we must be strong as gay people in this world, that we can help to turn around what has become a national tragedy and embarassment to something positive for all people. To Matt's parents, I send my love. Your son will live on in our hearts. |

Although they may claim to be, they aren't. They assumed the role of God and passed judgement. They had no compassion for Matthew's parents. God is the ultimate parent that accepts us as we are and loves us unconditionally. And even though it may be hard to have faith when something so senseless happens, I need to believe that Matthew lives on. |

Nobody in this world deserves to die in such a brutal way, no matter what there preferences are, be it religious, sexual or colour. I sincerely hope these monsters who did this, are given the harshest sentence possible, as now Matthew has been given a Life Sentence, so should these brual monsters. But these monsters will have to atone for their callous, brutal ways, not only in this life, but they have to meet with God Almighty eventually and when they do, he himself will judge them for their sins. May God Bless & comfort you all in your time of sadness & sorrow MAY MATTHEW REST IN PEACE. |

If any of us can help in any way, one need but ask. Kingsland, GA is a great distance from you and your and son's home, but those of us that are gay, and those true "caring humans," are outraged at what has occurred. Remember in your time of need, that your son will be remembered, and hopefully, this crime of ignorance and stupidity will be avenged. Perhaps your son's life will, as horrible as the following will sound, serve as a wake up call to the legislators of this country, and steps may be taken to prevent an event like this from happening again. You have my and my entire family's sincerest of regrets, scant comfort that they may be. Please contact me, if there is anything we may do to help, be it legislative, donation or any other way. Your son will long live in the minds of others and hopefully in their hearts as well. A freind in Kingsland, Richard A. Ray Jr. |

I was shocked when I learned about Matthew's death. Homophobic murders also happen here in Brazil, but the authorities usually ignore the murdering of Gays, Blacks and Indians -- even though that has been slowly changing. We have today a few organizations that claim for justice. But please do not claim for the capital punishment! I strongly believe it will not help stop such crimes. My best regards to Matthew's parents, whose courage should be an example to all parents -- especially the fundamentalists, who would surely learn from them. |
