As there is little wand movement in potion brewing, it is a more complicated magic for most wizards and witches. In this book, you will find and learn ways to conjure up sleeping draughts, cures for boils, and more useful brews for medicines and protection.

The Draught of Living Death

There is a sleeping potion that you are about to learn to make that is so powerful, it is known as "The Draught of Living Death." Take a half-pound of asphodel and leave it in 3 degree (F) water. To prevent this water from freezing, do the preserving spell: "Presser Hydrus". Stir quickly for an hour then add 5 ounces of wormwood. Stir gently for 10 minutes only.

Bezoar

A bezoar is a stone taken from the stomach of a goat and can cure you from most posions. It is about 70 ounces and an emerald green. Drop it in boiling water for half an hour (thirty minutes). Stir gently for that time.

Cure for Boils

Take a cauldron full of water and boil it for 5 minutes. Add 30 horned slugs and leave it for 30 seconds. Take off of fire. Stir in 10 pounds of porcupine quills. Mix for 15 minutes then ready.

Hydrus Impact

Hydrus potions, or potions whose main ingrediant is water, is the most common of all brews. In the next lesson you will learn how to make them.

The HYDRUS CORPS effects the drinker's body. It causes all body parts to stop functioning for a certain amount of time depending on how you made the brew. The more water, the longer and more occasionally it stops. The most queer thing about this potion, however, is that after a certain amount of minutes the person's body starts back up.

1.) Start by boiling 3 liters of salt water (no more than 3 liters, or else the potion will not work) or less, depending on how you want the result to be. Stir continuously and quickly for 40 minutes.
2.) Add in 4 sootecks, one every 5 minutes. Remember to never stop stiring.
3.) When all eagals are in, it should turn a reddish colour. When it turns a very dark shade of scarlet, add in quarter a pound of diced Sooteck roots, or boldashes.
4.) The last step is to slowly stir the liquid until it starts to steam. The slower you stir, the more it will steam.

Hydrus Illiminetaon

Hydrus Illiminetaon causes a person to go invisible.

1.) Mix 18 porcupine quills into one gallon of cold water. Let sit for 7 minutes.
2.) Stir for 12 minutes - add in 3 cups of frog spawn over 4 mintues.
3.) Boil at a high temperature for one hour until porcupine quills have disintegrated.

Fenetre Brew

This potion is not as effective as Hydrus Illiminetaon, yet it can cause someone to turn invisble as well for 5 minutes. It is much simpler to make, but not as great as an effect.

1.) Take one liter of dragons blood and boil it for 2 minutes.
2.) Stir in 3 vapire teeth and five unicorn hairs.
3.) After 15 minutes of stirring, add in the final ingrediant - 9 spider legs. A blue puff of smoke should come out of the brew. That means it is ready to be drunk.

CAUTION: Do Not Drink More Than 3/4 of a Cup!
