I have been meditating since 1987, and have been doing Tai Chi since 1980. I have found in my healing and growth that doing something positve every day for me, is an integral part of my healthy life. By doing something healthy every day change does begin to happen. In time small changes become big changes. Time is a funny thing, for when we look back it seems like it has gone by so fast. Just think, whatever age you are, look back over the last three years. Imagine that everyday you have taken five minutes to sit with yourself and meditate. You could then say that you have been meditating for three years and it passed so quickly. Healing would also be occuring during this time. This would mean that you would be improving in the following ways:
1)eating better
2)exercising moderately
3)more aware and accepting
4)feeling feelings
5)managing mind-talk
6)hearing your Inner Knowing
These changes happened for me over time from meditating and getting counseling. For example I spent 7 months at a Meditation School. This involved meditating every day and lots of therapy. This sped up my recovery. See if there is someone that you feel safe opening up to, for this will speed up your healing. There are many wonderful things about recovery such as feeling good mentally, emotionally and physically. Feeling peaceful and able to handle my stresses, difficult feelings and self-doubts that emmerge sometimes, is another benefit. Being smarter than ever is really fun too. I don't mean book smart, I mean intuition smart. You see my Inner Knowing is not as covered up anymore and so I am more in touch with my inner wisdom. That is fun! Here is a joke about "smart".
A little boy, a priest, a company president and a pilot
were on a plane. The plane's engines stopped. The pilot said
that there were three parachutes and he was going to use one. He
proceeded to jump out of the plane. The company president said
that he was the smartest person in the world and he needed to use a parachute.
He jumped. The priest looked at the little boy and said that since
he was getting old, he would give the last parachute to him. The
little boy looked up at the priest and said "Father, we will be okay.
The smartest man in the world just took my knapsack."
