- Homestead Certificate No. 11011 Application 13446 Land Office at Concordia, Kansas Claim of Stedman Gray has been established and duly consummated, in conformity to law, for the north west quarter of section twenty five in township four south of range four west of the Sixth Principal Meridian in Kansas containing one hundred and sixty acres. Dated 10th day of November, 1882. Recorded, Vol 22, Page 427.
-- April 7, 1903, Stedman was admitted to the Parsons State Hospital, Parsons, KS In the matter of insanity of Stedman Gray, of Republic Co., Lincoln Township, Scandia, KS. Occupation: Farmer formerly- No labor lately. Symptoms: March 30, 1903- made loud noises by tramping on floor and hollering, increasing .. No regularity in attacks... Variable, with rational intervals. In poor health, had epileptic attacks. No changes in general health. Mind runs to magnetic healing and Christian Science.. Is afraid of eternal punishment, which is a permanent delusion. No injury to others but wanted to be tied for fear he would injure himself. No attempt of suicide, but has talked of doing so. Had a violent temper and smoked excessively. He has had epilepsy attack nearly every day for two years. Has had epilepsy certainly for more than 35 years.
