Questions a newbie would ask:
1. How come I can't chat? berserk?
The coders saw fit that certain commands be unavailable to mortals/newbies to the mud. In order to access these commands, they had to be avatar first. In fact, you will have to at least wait until age 25 to chat, 'cause that is the earliest that you are allowed to do so when you train avatar. That means that you will have put in 16 hours into your mudding experience here. Avatar has one main difference from being mortal: you can kill and be killed by other players.
2. How come my equipment zaps me and falls off?
This could be because of two reasons: one being alignment, the other being lack of strength. If your alignment varies too much from that of your equipment, you will become zapped by the equipment, and it will fall off. You can fix this by typing align good, neutral, or evil. If your strength gets too low, you will drop weapons that you are holding in your hands. beware spells like chilling touch and/or poison because they can greatly hamper your strength.
3. Where can I go for exp?
Well, you can try the newbie zone, the shire, dwarves, newts ... basically a lot of different places.
4. How can I heal up faster?
Well, I am not too sure about this, but being hungry and/or thirsty might affect your ability to heal up. Also, sleeping helps you heal up a lot faster than resting or using the heal spell.5. What can help me fight better?
Better weapons? Better armor? Better stances? Better weapon skill? Also, make sure that you are not hungry or thirsty. being hungry or thirsty is definitely a way to not fight effectively.
6. When should I train avatar?
Well, it would be wisest to wait until you are ready to join a clan to train avatar. But, if you are impatient, it is suitable to train avatar once you reach 2k stats, and feel that you are ready to be an avatar.
7. Where can I find such-and-such item?
Well, if you need help finding items, you should get to exploring the mud, looking around, hunting for items. It's not wise to bug people, asking where items are. It's best to look around for items. You can find directions to many areas on the mud if you check around and find their web pages and look at them from there.
8. How do I find out about clans?
Well, if you need information about clans, go to the vampire wars web site, and from there, you can look at information about all of the clans: Vampire Wars Home Page .
9. Where can I find more newbie help?
More newbie help can be found on the nosferatu web page, which you are at already, or by going to the Vampire Wars Home Page, or just by logging into the mud, and looking at all the nice help files.
