    THE SEQUEL
EV:Override is the follow-up to the first escape velocity, and combines the original game play with an enormously enlarged game theme. the galaxy alone is five times the size of ev's, and there are 30+ governments to become a part of, rather than the 15 or so of the first ev. tons of all new outfits and all new ships bring an awesome new gaming experience. EVO brings in a whole new, much-awaited concept, in which certain missions can cause entire planets to be destroyed, captured by another race, or have the bar or planet descriptions altered to fit the purpose you desire.
from the ji nebula to the south tip renegade station, there are tons of new places to conquer, explore, and dominate. download now at Ambrosia's EVO Site

GO DOWN TO GAME PLAY AND SCHEME

Game play and scheme: In all of the Escape Velocity games, the actual game play is the same. The theme and scheme of the game, however, are much different. When I make references to certain aspects of the game in this section, I am talking about EV: Override.

When you start the game, you are a lowly shuttlecraft in the Sol system. You can land at any one of the three planets here, but it is best to land at Earth. Once on the planet, you can go to the mission computer, spaceport bar, commodity exchange, outfit ship, or shipyard. The game is centered around t he concept of getting more money, by various ways, in order to better you ship and to get a better ship! The ways you can get  money are fairly simple. One, you can take missions in the mission computer that will get you moderately good amounts of dough. Two, you can go to the spaceport bar, and you might be able to find someone who will give you a mission. Missions can be for big organizations, such as the Miranu or United Earth. They can also be for trading firms or smaller governments. But in EVO, missions can lead to many an incredible occurence in the game, i.e., you might become a part of the Igadzra, a shipper of illegal Saalian brandy, or you could cause the Voinian Empire to crumble by helping the Hinwar make a revolt!

Actually playing the game and maneuvering your ship from system to system can be difficult at first, but eventually you get the hang of it.

Another big part of the game is outfitting your ship and buying ships. Be sure to check ship info when you're buying, because you may be getting a ship you actually don't want, because the ship might be pathetically slow, or have awful fuel jump status, or have atrocious shield capacity. Same thing with weapons.

There really are not very many known cheats for any of the Escape Velocity games. But there is one great and evilly useful one that is well known. The Forklift!

Forklift:
Hold [Option] and click on the title screen until the music changes. Hold [Shift] + [Ctrl] + [Command] + [Option] + F when the phrase "-MCB 4:35 A.M." appears. The "Forklift" theme song will play to confirm correct code entry. The loaded pilot file will receive the forklift.
