The Zoos new Trail of the Elephants has just opened in March. The new home for Mek Kapah and Bong Su has given the elephants not just loads more space, but also the possibility of a greater range of activities. They now have a pool in which they can totally immerse themselves, mud pools, and future acces to vegetation for browsing. Pictures can be seen at Melbourne Zoos website
As part of the future plans, an entire exhibit for the bull will be built and three or four young female elephants will be brought in. It is hoped that the elephants will breed..
