If you have already install the application then reinstalling over
previous copy of Build-N-Book will replace existing data file with a new clean copy of the
data file. If you want to keep your existing data then read the section Reinstalling the application.
For installing a new copy follow the instructions below.
- Copy the setup file in a local directory.
- Run the Setup.
- Follow the instruction in the setup program.
If you have already install the application then reinstalling over previous copy
of Build-N-Book will replace existing data file with a new clean copy of the data file.
If you want to keep your existing data then follow the instructions below
- Make a backup copy of the Build-N-Book data file. For making a back up run the Build-N-Book
and click on Tools->Backup menu. Press F1 on this screen to display Help about making a backup.
- Install the Build-N-Book as describe above.
- Run the Build-N-Book and restore the backup file. For restoring of Build-N-Book data file,
run Build-N-Book and click on Tools->Restore menu. Press F1 on this screen to display Help about restoring a backup.
If you are unable to run Build-N-Book application then you need to manually backup the Build-N-Book Data file.
- Open the folder where Build-N-Book is installed. In this folder there is another folder named 'Data'.
Open the 'Data' folder. This folder contains file named 'BuildNBookData.mdb'.
- Copy the 'BuildNBookData.mdb' file in another folder outside of the folder where Build-N-Book
is installed.
- Install the Build-N-Book as describe above.
- Open the 'Data' folder in Build-N-Book folder. Delete the file name 'BuildNBookData.mdb'.
Copy the previous 'BuildNBookData.mdb' file in this folder.
- On the Start menu, point to Settings and click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs
- Select Build-N-Book from the list and click Remove button.
When you run Build-N-Book, it will display a login dialogue. Build-N-Book comes with a default user login.
Login name is 'Admin'. Initially Admin do not have a password so you can leave the Password field blank.
Later you can setup a password for 'Admin' as well as create other login users.
A DSN has to be created for the application to run. Build-N-Book provides a simple way to create a DSN.
When you run the application for the first time, after login screen, DSN Setup screen will appear.
Enter a name for DSN (e.g. Build-N-Book) and click on 'Ok' button. If a DSN of this name already exist,
it will display an error message, in which case enter some other name. Once DSN is created,
this screen will not appear again. You can also change the DSN from the Tools->DSN Setup menu.
