Even Angels Cry

Chapter Eleven...The Love of a Mother

Look at me
Look hard
Look at the smile
Plastered against my face
As fake and meaningless
As your love.
Take me
Take my body
Take my heart
Rip the little
shred of hope
I hold
Apart.

Kelsey stopped writing. She looked at the words, which blackened her skin, though it was hardly noticeable. She had thought she would be more shaken by the whole experience. But she found herself amazingly numb. She just didn't give a damn anymore. She didn't care; everything had been taken from her before so this was nothing new.

She was lying on the bed, now full of rumpled sheets and her dignity. Strangely, she felt a small peace within her. She sat up, carefully. She winced in the darkness. Then sudden, she remembered her mother telling her about the night she was conceived...

"I just knew I was pregnant and going to have a girl. It was this strange, unbelievable peace inside of me that calmed me and at the same time scared me to death. But that's love..."

Barely comprehending the meaning behind the words forming in her mind, she looked at her bare, bruised belly which lay open to world at that moment and whispered quietly, "Not you. Not you. You're mine. This world isn't for you." She looked into the darkness, with a crazed look in her eyes. "Jyson, never mess with a pregnant woman."
