Even Angels Cry

Chapter Nine...Cementing Two Worlds

Here I am
Left in the middle
Of all that hurts inside
Greed, honor, pain, and pride
Deadly combinations
Depressing frustrations.
I can’t tell you
Yet I can’t lie
I can’t even
Understand why.
I’m so afraid,
So scared
Of what the future
Holds in its deadly hands
For me
Whether I will be
In pain or happy
In joy or sadness
With a lover
Of my soul and mind
Or a lover
Of my body.
In the middle
Of the two
Each holding its own
Hidden dangers

Kelsey stopped writing, regretfully. She had to return to reality. She tried to keep writing, but the scene played over and over again in her mind, like a song you’ve longed to hear but cry when the music meets your ears...

Taylor stared at the figure before him. His heigth. His body build. Blonde. The similiarites, as few as they were, angered Taylor. What right did this bastard have to even be remotely like him? The bastard who had stolen Kelsey, beat her, raped her, touched her where he hadn’t, when she hadn’t even allowed...

Jyson smiled at Kelsey, his green eyes enveloping her. He rushed at her, and handed her a rose. His lips met hers before she even fully realized he was truly there. But the feeling of fear as soon as he touched her awakened her back into her world. The world Taylor couldn’t possibly belong in.

Jyson began to talk to her, ushering her with compliments and words of love. He didn’t even acknowledge Taylor’s presence, let alone the ice daggers Taylor was drilling at him. Kelsey faced downward, only nodding. She was so nervous, so scared.

Finally, Jyson acknowledged Taylor. “Say, you look familar,” he said turning toward him, “Have I seen you somewhere before?” Taylor’s lips tightened as he spoke, “It’s possible.” His words cut there Kelsey’s heart as she saw the pain in his eyes. Kelsey could read his eyes. ‘Almost as well as he could read mine once...’

Jyson blinked a few times, struck dumb by Taylor’s coldness. He stared awhile before asking, “Why are you here?” Taylor opened his mouth to say something Kelsey was sure Jyson wouldn’t like hearing so she quickly said, “He came to visit me because I’m Jen’s friend. His brother dates Jen.” The words stung like fire on her tongue. How could see write him off as something so trivial?

Taylor felt Kelsey’s words strike him like a knife. He nearly fell from the shock. But regardless, he stayed up. Kelsey’s gaze quickly went down. But she could still see the split second of vulnerability in his blue eyes. She grimaced inside. Pain was nothing new to her. But this...this hurt so much more.

“Hey guys, what’s up?” Zac walked in hand-in-hand with Jen. At first, Jen didn’t notice Jyson, but when she did, her blue eyes became identical to Taylor’s. “What are you doing here?” her words cut through the air. Jyson smiled warmly. “Vising my girlfriend,” he said, clearing emphasizing the word. Jen’s eyes narrowed, “Not anymore, you’re not. Get out. Now.” She spoke calmy, but with a fire underneath that anyone could detect.

Jyson, still playing dumb but swearing in his mind, stood up. He bent down to kiss Kelsey, but he noticed his lips only met air. She would not turn her head upward. He stood up for a moment. His eyes glared at her. He smiled when he noticed her shoulders trembling slightly. “I’m leaving. Bye, sweetheart,” he said, smiling purposely at Kelsey.

He walked out with an aurora of victory about him. The room stayed silent as his whistling slowly faded away. Zac knew Jen wanted to talk with Kelsey, but from the way Taylor was standing, so perfectly still, head bowed, shoulders straight, he knew Taylor needed to talk.

Zac and Jen left quietly. Kelsey stared at the bedsheets, not knowing what to expect. She didn’t need to wonder very long. Taylor slowly walked toward her, as though each step caused him pain. He sat on the hospital bed. Taylor wasn’t aware of what he was doing, or why. The only thoughts clear in his mind were the ones you couldn’t quite put into words. His subconscious had sudden taken control over him.

He reached out to her, quick as lightning. She jumped a bit, but she felt his fingers on her head, urging her head to raise. She obeyed, opening her eyes as she did so. Their eyes met and before Kelsey realized it, Taylor was kissing her with such heat, such passion, there was nowhere to go, nothing to become, but within him.

His tongue explored her mouth, the memories flashing back. It thrust forcefully into her mouth, demanding and pleading at the same time. She responded, her tongue running across his lips, caressing, remembering. Fire. Admiration. Envy. Jealousy. Want. Need. Words that only mildly expressed what passed between them. A single kiss cementing two worlds together.
