Zac quickly turned to hand the phone to one of his brothers, only to find them
on the other side of the room laughing.
"Hello, is somebody there?" she asked.
"Hi, is this Jamie?" Zac asked nervously.
"No, let me get her," Sue said.
Thanks," Zac replied.
"Hello?" Jamie asked.
"Hi, do you know who this is?"
"No, so talk to me."
"What do you want me to say?"
"Anything," she said.
"Ok" I don't go to your school, or any school at that." He told her.
"More" she said. "Keep talking or just tell me."
"This is kinda fun. I will let you keep guessing. I have blonde hair about 5
ft., and brown eyes."
"Well you're not Tommy. You can't be Josh."
"Nope." Zac said getting a little impatient.
"And this can't be Zac."
"Zac who?"
"Hanson," she said.
"Ding-ding-ding, you've won! Thank you for playing mystery guest. We'll be
keeping in touch. Bye" he said jokingly.
"No wait....don't hang up!" She yelled.
"Who are you talking to, Jamie?" Sue asked.
"Whoa are you serious? You're Zac?" She asked in disbelief.
"Yes, would you like to talk to Tay or Ike?" he said convincingly, "Is Sue
there?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Aren't I good? You have to admit." Zac said, playing with her.
"Yeah, whatever," Jamie said sarcastically.
"Who are you talking to ?" Sue kept demanding to know.
"Zac!" she yelled impatiently.
"Let me talk!" Sue yelled.
"Hold on, Sue"
"Zac? Sue wants to talk to you. OK?"
"OK cool," he said happily getting to talk to two girls.
"Zac, hey it's Sue."
"Hey, I need to talk to Jamie again."
"Ok. Here!" she shoved to phone into Jamie's stomach.
"Yeah?" Jamie asked.
"Where do you live?"
"In Jax, Florida"
"I'm coming I promise."
"When?"
"It will be a surprise, but I gotta go, I'm goin' over to a friends house.
I'll call you later."
"Ok, bye Zac"
"Bye"
They both hung up, both pretty happy. Jamie got in the shower and Zac went
over to Drew's house.
"Hey, Drew?"
"Yeah, Zac?"
"Guess What. I met this...well sorta met this girl today. She seems really
nice & I want to meet her in person."
"You talked to her on the phone?" Drew asked a little confused.
"Yeah, she seemed cool."
"Well, where does she live?" Drew questioned.
"Well...in Florida."
"IN Florida?" He said aloud, "I thought you were going to say down the street, but
you didn't have the guts to go over there."
"Well do you think my mom will let me, Tay & Ike go?"
"By yourselves? Yeah right." Drew said "The only way your going to see her is
if your dad goes."
For the rest of the day Zac & Drew just hung around. Roller bladed, went to plat laserquest, and played video games til' Zac had to go home. But all day the only thing he could think about was Jamie. `
"Hi, is Ellen there?" she asked excitedly.
"Yeah, hold on," her brother said.
"Hello?" Ellen asked.
"Ellen, what the hell have you been doing?" Jamie asked yelling in the phone.
Ellen was still depressed about her old boyfriend, Matt dumping her. Lately,
she had been keeping to herself.
"Oh, nothing," she said in her depressed voice.
"Well, I have just the news to cheer you up!" She sounded excited.
Hanson was one of Ellen's favorite bands. She listened to their music and it
seemed to make her a little happier, but today nothing seemed to be working.
"You're not still upset over Matt are you?" Jamie asked in disbelief.
"Well, yeah, so what do you think is gonna cheer me up?"
"You'll never guess who I just talked to. Guess!" Jamie said
"Zac?"
"Ellen," she whined," you take all the fun out of it."
"So, why should you talking to Zac make me happy?"
BEEP
"Hold on, Ellen I got another call."
"Yeah, whatever"
"Hello?" Jamie asked.
"Jamie?"
"Oh, hey Zac," she said, "I have like the biggest favor to ask you."
"OK, shoot," he said
"Well you see I have this friend..." Jamie began.
"Oh, no not one of those obsessed one's?" he asked hoping she wouldn't say
yes.
"No, she doesn't like you...wait..I mean she has a thing for Taylor. She's is
really depressed. Her old boyfriend just dumped her. If I gave you her
number would you get Taylor to call her?"
"I'll make him" Zac said reassuringly.
"Thank you sooo much, that will make her day. Her name is Ellen and her number
is....."
BEEP
"Ellen?"
"That took forever!" Ellen whined.
"Ellen, I hate to do this, but I gotta go," she said quickly.
"You mean you're not going to tell me what happened between you and Zac?" she
asked realizing her chance to meet Taylor.
"Later."
"Bye," Ellen said frustrated and impatiently.
"I'll call you back, promise!" Jamie said and hung up.
"Come on Taylor, pleaseeeeee."Zac was practically on his hands and knees.
"NO Zac! I don't want to talk to any screaming, obsessed girl. We are on a
break." Taylor said not about to give in.
"She won't scream, promise," he kept on, he didn't want to disappoint a girl
he just met.
"How do you know?"
"She is depressed. She needs someone to cheer her up. Who better than you?!"
"Fine. But only for a few minutes."
"Fair enough" Zac said willing to compromise.
"What is her name?" Taylor asked picking up the phone.
"Her name is Ellen."
