Chapter 5 - Sure

Taylor put his head in his hands. He keep on trying for a headache or something, but no such luck. He growled at the paper before him. “Funkified teacher gives homework on the first day,” he muttered. He had been assigned a paper on what he thought the new year would be like. He had thought of a few words, but had decided it probably wouldn’t be the best thing in the world to use them.

Zac, who was sitting quietly at his desk, was staring at the phone. “Oh my GOD!” screamed in his mind over and over. “A make-out party...ohmigosh.” Zac was freaked. He had never even kissed a girl, much less, umm...well all the stuff that goes with making out.

Rather abruptly, Zac turned around and asked his older brother, “How do you make-out with a girl?” Now, had this been any other question, Zac would’ve gotten beat silly, but this question, however... “Whaaat?” Taylor’s attention was (gladly) focused on another subject.

Zac repeated his question, rolling his eyes, “How do you make-out with a girl?” Taylor blinked a couple of times because asking, “Why?” At this, Zac began to mumble, “Because I kinda-sorta got invited...” “I can’t hear you,” Taylor interrupted impatiently. “Because I got invited to a make-out party!” Zac screamed at him. Taylor’s eyes open wide as he locked the door and hissed, “Shut up, stupid! You want Mom and Dad to hear?”

Zac pouted for a few seconds before hearing Taylor say, “Well, you have to...” he was turning red, despite himself, “You have to kiss her-” “How?” Zac interrupted. “Umm...well, it all depends. At parties it’s French a lot.” At this, Zac’s face went into disgust mode. Suddenly, the red from Taylor’s face disappeared. He was going to enjoy this.

“See, the guy has to put his tongue in her mouth first.” Taylor was smiling now, enjoying Zac’s facial and sound effects. “And you have to touch her...” “Where?” Taylor just smiled. “Might as well leave the rest to the imagination,” he decided to himself.

Isaac grinned as he hung up the phone. He already had a date for Friday night. “Hmm...I could deal with this school thing,” he thought to himself. His date was one of the most popular girls in school, Leia. Suddenly, the phone rang again. Isaac picked it up (even though it almost burned his hand since he had been on it for so long) “Hey, is Isaac there?” a voice asked. “This is him,” he answered. “Yo, Ike! This is Ryan. Ya wanna come over - some of the guys are coming over to do...stuff.” he said simply. Isaac thought for a moment then suddenly it hit him, “I can’t,” he muttered, cursing under his breath. “I’ve gotta practice.” Ryan sympathized, “Man, that sucks. Well see ya later.” The phone conversation ended soon after that.

Isaac went up to his room and started to turn the knob when he noticed it was locked. “Hey, let me in!” he yelled at the wood. He heard some rustling from inside before the door opened. Zac was sitting at the desk and Tay was sitting on the bed, writing on a piece of paper. Isaac was going to ask why the door was locked, but decided it was probably to keep Mackie out or something. Isaac went to his bed and scrummaged around. Then he suddenly heard a warning voice, “Boys...”

They all groaned as their Mom instructed them to clean up their room. They muttered to themselves as they carelessly threw their rollerblades, sheets of music, and dirty clothes into the closet and under their beds. About ten minutes later, they decided it was clean.

The next day, Zac was running around in his underwear. “Where are my camouflage pants?” He screamed. Taylor rolled his eyes and suggeting checking under the bed. Zac stuck his Fruits-covered behind in the air as he searched under his bed. “Ha!” he exclaimed, as he held up victory, wrinkled as it was.

Taylor rolled his eyes once again and he put on his soccer choker. Isaac ran a comb through his hair as he went over his schedule in his mind. Both he and Taylor had block schedules. Zac, however, didn’t.

By 7:15, miraciously, they were all ready. Diana dropped them off, Taylor and Isaac at the High School, and Zac at the Junior High. Taylor and Isaac went their separate ways. Taylor immediately met up with Justin. The second Taylor said hi, Justin asked him, “Will you go out with her?” and pointed to a girl a few yards away. At first, Taylor thought this was some joke. “I don’t even know her name,” he pointed out. “Her name’s Kristin.” Justin answered, still pointing. Taylor thought a moment. Then he decided, “What the hell. Sure.”
