As a dealer believe it or not, we are
not allowed to tell you how to play your hand. We
are allowed to add up your hand and give you the
options that apply.
One of the first things I would like to
explain
is: what a (soft hand) is. It is any hand with
an ace in it that you can hit with a 10 and not bust
ie...6..A..is a soft 17 ....2..3..A..A....is also a
soft 17. Remember..A..is 1 or 11. If
they confuse you ask the dealer. We are more
than happy to add up your hand for you. We can add them faster and more
accurately than most people.
It doesn't really matter how you play your
hand...what is most important is playing consistant.
If you hit 16 when the dealer has a 7 or
higher showing....hit it all the time.....if you opt
to not hit it don't ever hit it. Over all you
will come out in the long run playing this
way.
(We have had
people in that never hit 12 or higher....but, by
playing consistant...they walk away winners.)
Rule of thumb is:
if the dealer has 3 thru 6
showing and if you have less than 11...hit or double
down.
If you have 12 and the dealer is
showing a 2...hit, but, only take one card.
The majority of the time you will
either take the dealers "make it card" or make your
own hand.
NEVER split 5's, and only
if
you are counting cards do you ever split 10's or
facecards.
ALWAYS hit or double down
on a soft hand that adds up to 17 or less.
Depending on how lucky you feel. They say to
always split 8's, this is a matter of opinion, I do
it if the dealer is showing a 8 or less.
Otherwise you just hit or stand.
Depending on if you hit 16 or not. Only
hit a soft 18 or more if you are counting cards.
BLACKJACK AND OTHER GAMES TO PLAY
And yes, a
blackjack is also a soft 11. Only in
tournament play is it advisable to double down on
this hand.
This page will be updated often
as I think of things.
