Alex

Alex is a wonderful example of the Yellow Naped Amazon in so many ways. He has a large beautiful yellow nape and also some unique yellow markings on his head. When we got him he was about 6 months old. At first he was a little shy but he warmed right up once he became used to be held and handled. Now he loves to play. I can put him on my finger and he will hold on tight while I "fly" him around the house. He has learned so many phrases and he loves to sing opera. He can really hit the high notes!! Some of the things he says most often are "I love you ", "Wanna Play?", "Hi Alex", "Bye Alex". I named him Alex because I thought that name would be good for a boy or a girl. Every time the phone rings he says "Hello!" really loud so that whoever is on the phone can hear him. He will usually say Hello about 10 times when the phone rings. Alex repeats himself a lot. He will sit in his huge cage and say "I love you" over and over again. We are truly lucky to have such a delightful and happy family member. Alex never screams or makes any undesirable noises. He mainly talks and sings. We bought him a birdie diaper that he sometimes lets us put on so that we could take him places. I have taken him to the grocery store, the hospital to visit patients, and to friend’s houses. Alex loves to travel!! Alex is always the life of the party. One time we were having a baby shower and there were about 20 people in the house. When the mom to be was opening her gifts he would say "ooooh" and "aaaahh" and also "Oh my God!" then he just starts cracking up laughing. That is another thing he does well, laughing. I could go on and on about him, he is just a bundle of fun!

Some of Alex's favorite words:
Hello, Alex, Hi, Bye, I love you, Wanna Play, What's up babe

Undesirable behavior:
I don't know if you consider it undesirable but he will not let anyone sleep in. He will be up around 8 or 9 singing, playing and talking very loudly. Also, one time we left his cage open and he got out and chewed up our wooden plantation shutters (of course:)) He is too cute to get mad at though.
Songs Alex sings:
Row, row, row your boat and Opera
