Band Info

Aurakil are an original Perth-based four piece rock band.

With influences ranging from the Superjesus to Tool, from the Foo Fighters to the Pixies and anything in between, Aurakil combine big guitar sounds and driving rhythms into a set of powerful original tunes.

Together since late 2000, Aurakil spent the first half of 2001 song writing in the studio and developing their sound and are now out there gigging hard.

Aurakil will be showcasing their material over the next few months with shows around Perth and beyond, and are currently putting the finishing touches on  an EP due for imminent release.

Aurakil are:

Sharne  - Vox / Guitar
Sharne has always had a passion for music and this is obvious from her natural presence and confidence on stage. Sharne fronts the Aurakil machine with a combination of powerful vocals and grinding, no-nonsense guitar riffs.

Jonathan - Guitar
The newest member of the Aurakil clan, Jonathan's playing has elevated the band to a new level. A classically trained guitarist, his fresh take on sounds, solos and riffs adds a new dimension to the Aurakil sound.

Ben  - Bass
Originally a low-end groover from Sydney, Ben moved to Perth to escape the pokies and to take up his role as the Aurakil 'band guru'. With a brilliant musical ear, his smooth playing provides Aurakil's driving low end and heavy bass rhythms. (He's also known for his groovy stage moves…)

Scott  - Drums
Scotty happens to own the loudest drum kit in captivity. Despite repeated attempts to beat it into submission it just won't lie down. Luckily Scotty has learnt to tame the beast (almost), providing the cranking beats and driving rhythms that are the Aurakil sound.

So what makes Aurakil any different from the other bands out there chasing 'the dream'?

If you turn up at an Aurakil gig you can expect something a little different to the usual guitar and bass four-piece. Aurakil's unique sound comes from having tight, heavy, yet dynamic music met with a powerful female voice. Sharne may have started out sounding angelic but since then her vocals have had to undergo a little bodybuilding. Why? To be heard over boys who don't understand how to turn shit down. Now fully cranked she's one of them - heads are turning and the word is spreading.

Btw - the word 'Aurakil' doesn't mean shit. It was just made up by strange people joining words together under the influence, and no, we don't want to kill peoples' Aura…..if that happens by accident, then we apologise…..we come in peace man.
