Sigmund Freud

(1856 - 1939)

Psychoanalysis is the method of analyzing the phenomena of the mind and emotions.  The founder, developer, and now known as the father of psychoanalysis is Sigmund Freud.  The Austrian genius questioned why people thought they way the did and what was the real reason for their actions.  He conducted therapy sessions with numerous patients and created many techniques of therapy and established the theory of the unconscious.  These theories are the cornerstones of modern psychology and have been employed for decades, but due to change in lifestyle, are not as popular highly esteemed today as they were in the past.
