FIRE AT THE PIPELINE

Friends and family often send me assorted photographs that I think are worth sharing with others, so in order to share with all, I've placed the photos together here, on this page.

I haven't been able to find specific information about these pictures but believe the fires depicted to have been taken in June 2004. I also believe that the oil flow was cut off when this fire became a threat.

I took the majority of my information from various Alaskan newspapers, predominately the Anchorage Daily News www.adn.com

Winds increased fire activity with active spotting around the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Ten smokejumpers and a Department of Forestry Type 6 Engine were sent to supplement existing firefighters where a total of 12 personnel are assigned to this lightning caused fire.

I found that as of July 22, 2004, at a time when wildfires normally die down, there were 117 fires still burning in the interior section of the beautiful state of Alaska with no end in sight. At that time 3.85 million acres had already burned, and the estimated cost was $31.2 million.

I'm sorry that I don't know who the photographer is, nor who holds the copyright. If anyone should know and would send me proof, I'd be more than happy to give credit where credit is due, or remove the page entirely.

Please remember to keep the people and firefighters in all locations that are having these fires in your prayers.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope that you enjoyed your visit. Please feel free to share this page by using your send feature.
