The Twelth House

12th House (natural ruler Pisces, natural planet, Neptune)

The 12th House precedes the Ascendant. It refers to the time before birth, hence it indicate the individual's reactions towards restraint, confinement, the unconscious and escapism.

This house will describe the persons need for seclusion. Do they hate being alone? Do they need a time and place to be alone? Are they completely anti-social? Do they choose to be alone, confined or restricted or does life seem to produce these conditions?

When alone most people indulge in daydreaming and fantasy. What sort of things does the individual fantasize about? What are their dreams? This House is about the unconscious, therefore it also relates to hidden fears. What sort of things are they afraid of? what are their nightmares?

The 7th house referred to open enemies, that is those that openly seek to cause harm to the individual. The 12th house refers to enemies that tend go unrecognized, those that secretly plot a persons downfall. This includes oneself! For this is also the house of self-undoing, where a person is their own worst enemy. Questions to ask here are... Is this person the subject to malicious plotting by others? In what way are they their own worst enemy? Are their subconscious fears their undoing?

Opposing this House of the unconscious and dreams, is the practical, down-to-earth 6th House.
