Animal Cruelty, one of the most disturbing and unnecessary acts short of war. Just another example of human selfishness and blatant disregard for nature. These animals are one of nature's most beautiful creations, and what gives us the right to deprive them of life? Now I wish it were that simple, it's not just their lives that are being stripped from them, its their security, their habitat, their skin, fur, eyes, etc, etc. Animals have feelings, I know this for a fact. These creatures who mean no intentional harm are being stripped of their fur, so that the glamorous can traipse in style. Baby seals are skinned alive so that the Japanese can create aphrodisiacs from the oils in their skin. They corrode baby rabbit's eyes with eye-liner and mascara, "Hey, what's a few baby rabbits as long as I look beautiful?" These are only a few out of hundreds of unspeakable examples of animal cruelty, and something needs to be done about it. So first step is educating ourselves. Below are some links to several animal advocacy organizations who can properly educate you and guide us toward a solution. Support is all I ask of you, majority rules in this country, and the animals have no voices to protest with. It is our obligation to them, as human beings, as creations of nature ourselves, as protectors, as artists, as decent respectable people, lets speak for the animals who cannot speak for themselves.
One World is currently accepting submissions based on animal rights and/or animal abuse.

PETA Peta: People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), with more than seven hundred thousand members, is the largest animal rights organization in the world. Founded in 1980, PETA is dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals. PETA operates under the simple principle that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment. PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in laboratories, in the fur trade, and in the entertainment industry. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of beavers, birds and other "pests," and the abuse of backyard dogs. PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and direct action.

American Anti-Vivisection Society AAVS is a wonderful organization intent on supporting animal right's, and educating animal right's supporters. They are a nonprofit organization, and dedicated to ending experimentation on animals in research, testing, and education, as well as other forms of animal cruelty. It's very important that something be done about the animal cruelty in this world, and even one's support is a component of the solution. Please lend a hand, the animals haven't a voice to protest with, but we do!!

Hugs for Homeless AnimalsA wonderful organization helping to reduce the amount of companion animals who are thrown on the street to scavenge for prey. No cat, dog, or any other domestic animal deserves this. Hugs for Homeless Animals provide placements and adoptions for the millions of homeless animals in a comfortable atmosphere. Their intent is to assist the public in education, provide stable placements for their animals, and encourage animal shelters to do the same. Again no cat or dog diserves to live that way!

Animals' Agenda Magazine The Animals' Agenda is a bimonthly news magazine dedicated to informing people about animal rights and cruelty-free living for the purpose of inspiring action for animals. The Animals' Agenda is committed to serving--and fostering cooperation among--a combined audience of animal advocates, interested individuals, and the entire animal rights movement.

People for Animal Rights A wonderful website with plenty of education to provide, worldwide news incidents involving animal cruelty, etc, etc.

Animal Concerns Community Also an exellent site with a lot of significant information. Some components are Educational resources, progressive carreer resources, governmental resources, products and services, links to other animal advocacy organizations, etc, etc.

I hope you will find these sites helpful, and I strongly urge you all as artists to speak for these animals, support them, fight for them, save them before the word extinction becomes all too familiar. Thank you,
Richard Charles
