Unwrapping You
By Gary Dickerson

One feather at a time,
slipping from friend to lover
beyond a corridor of "what ifs"
destined to break your cocoon.
Trace freedom in gentle
touches across my cheeks
and leave it on my breast.

A thousand times I dreamed,
a thousand illusions none as sweet
as your hand caressing innocent
chimes between each breath.
Hang gliding through souls
lost from time, sunsets, or rise.
Undressing love fibers like seconds
of time 'til sleep over comes all
except dreams, clasped to one thought,
one soul complete no longer needs to dress.
