A Biographical Essay by

And so you ask me;
Why do you want to write poetry of all things?

Maybe, it is my age, my frame of mind, my circumstances, but it is a journey on a road with pitfalls, rocks, devious detours on the way to becoming. And I also understand that it is the road that counts and not the ‘being there.' It is an addiction, an attempt to say the most you can in as few words as possible At least it is for me. I am a great talker and I love words; sounds of words are sensual to me. I have been accused of liking to hear myself talk and it is true and I can go on and on. Poetry forces me to slow down, keep to the point and not ramble.
Poetry is a discipline. I have to learn how to do it, to be honest with my words and thoughts, coherent and cohesive. Note the ‘I HAVE’ to learn. The other part is the WANT to learn how to do that discipline well. I want to show you who I am; by doing so I show myself to me. It is fascinating to learn about so much of life and other perceptions from the hearts of poets. This also helps define me as well.
Poetry is a catharsis and a psychotherapy tool in a real sense. It enhances growth—personal internal growth. It gives you insight and strength. It can move you to anger or tears. It can arouse you or make you cringe.
It is not easy for me to just sit down and write. There must be an inspiration to do so. For me, just looking out my window is a good one. The other is music. Music is my life as much as poetry. Music is poetry; poetry is music. What wonder can be inspired from both mediums. The link between the two is simply, love.
I love to write and the learning processes involved—all kinds and types of poetry. That is also part of the discipline.
I hope that my work will let you think, or cry or dream or consider life in ways I see it. I promise to let you see me; please show me you. I think you are wonderful.
