By Lori Smaltz

You were captured in some essence you didn't know.
A candidly wicked aura of nature surrounded
the indigo glow that bled over you.
It grew stronger than Mars, after dusk.

Each view of your flesh was a luminous
source of spark, light alit in colors
to create your image
in the likeness of God.

I continue to wish all sober moments
could be as brilliant and vivid.
The thought is even enough to blow
polluted fragments
from earth in weakened times.
