Alex M. Rosenleaf

Alex is a Junior at the University of Montana, with majors in Vocal Perfomance and History/Political Science. He is currently Assistant Coach of the Missoula Sentinel Speech and Debate Team and a member of the reconstituted University of Montana Forensics Team. He also serves as a Senator of The Associated Students of the University of Montana. Previous to that, he spent 4 years as an extemper for Great Falls High School, in Great Falls, Montana, and recieved his diploma from Great Falls High in June of 1999. In his spare time Alex enjoys acting, singing, dancing, tennis, travel, reading, and politics.

Alex was a competitor at the 1998 Gateway Nationals speech and debate tournament in Foreign Extemp. He won 4 tournaments in his high school career, and placed at numerous others, including 3 times at the Montana NFL District Tournamnet in Foreign Extemp.

In his first tournament as a member of the UM team Alex won first place honors in Junior Dramatic Interpretation and reached the Quarterfinals of Parliamentary Debate with his partner Brendan McQuillan at the Whitman College Speech Tournament.

Alex also placed in Parli debate at the Trapper Rendevous in Powell WY. At the Whitman tournament in 2001, Alex took home a 4th place finish in Junior Extemp and a 6th place finish in Open dramatic Interp.

Alex has written extemp topics for tournaments, camps, and practices in Montana, Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Utah. He also helped to prepare Great Falls High extemper Brian Johnson for the 1999, 2000, and 2001 NFL National Tournaments. Johnson broke to out rounds in Domestic Extemp in 1999, and placed in the top 20 at the 2000 nationals. In 2001, Johnson placed 4th in the nation in Domestic Extemp.

Sentinel extempers that Alex coached have reached numerous outrounds in Montana competition and placed at the Montana NFL district tournament.
