So...what is Hall House?

Hall House is part of the themed housing on campus at UNH.  Hall House, the "Outdoor Experiential Education" dorm, is located in Area III and is one of five mini-dorms.

Ok...what do you guys do?

Basically, whatever is fun.  Each new resident brings experiences with them when they come to live here.  Examples of the activities that often take place are:

and many more.

Also, the dorm sponsors one trip per semester.  Typically, the first trip is done in late summer/early fall, on one of the first weekends back at UNH.  The second is usually done toward the end of Spring Semester.

Who lives there...would I fit in?

A very eclectic group lives in Hall House.  For example, Hall House residents have majors ranging from Outdoor Education to Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering to Business.  No matter what your academic interest may be, if you have an interest in the outdoors then you would fit in at Hall House.

If I lived there...what would I have to do?

Since Hall House is part of the themed housing here at UNH, it has requirements it must meet to maintain that theme.  Hall Council, Hall House's student leadership, requires that a person must attend and lead a few events per semester and year.  The two categories are socials and experientials.  You must attend 2 socials and lead 1 per semester.  You must attend 1 experiential per semester and lead 1 per year.

A social can be almost anything.  Some advance notice must be given beacuase these are open to anyone interested.  They take place on campus and can be lead by one or two people.

Some socials from this past year are: Frisbee Golf, The Simpsons - 300th episode social, a Nalgene decorating social, a Snowman (which turned into Snow-squirrel) building social, (broken) TV smashing social, and going to see some of the many bands that came to play at UNH.

An experiential is similar to a social, but takes place off-campus, and are usually trips.  Examples of these from last year are: rock-climbing trip, skiing/boarding trip, camping trip, and a white-water rafting trip.

To sum it up:

Lead: 1 experiential per year, 1 social per semester

Attend: 1 experiential per semester, 2 socials per semester
