Dear Friends,

I just need to say thanks this time 'round. This has been a busy fall, and I have been so aware of all the hands that have gone into seeing that things have gotten done, projects accomplished, events pulled off. THANK YOU.

You, each one of you, are the church. You are its hands, its mind, its eyes, its feet, its heart - always with Christ as our head. We are the living body of Christ in the world - for all the world to see. So, how wide our welcome, how much we are willing to roll up our sleeves and put ourselves to work for Christ's sake, how joyous our songs of praise, our caring we are to all ... It all reflects on what others see as what our faith means to us, as just who this god is that we worship.

Thank you, for faithfully and joyfully being the church. Much has been done this fall - don't think your efforts weren't noticed or appreciated - because they truly were.

And now, we move into such an important time - Advent - awaiting the birth of Christ, Christmas, and Epiphany - Celebrating the presence of the light in the world.

While Christmas will be here and gone before we know it for most of us, remember how long the days of December could last when you ere a child? Children do wait for Christmas. The season of Advent begs us to recover just a minute or two of that sense of waiting each day. Take time for God - move yourself from "your time" to God's time; from trying to do everything yourself to opening yourself to God and God's plan for your life. Start small - five, ten minutes at the end or beginning of you day - or squeezed somewhere in between. Let you focus be on waiting on God. - Just like a couple of expectant parents, uncertain about the future did so long ago -- and see if you don't encounter Christmas a little differently this year!

God Bless
