The Couch Theory

Here is one to rerun for the archives..... I had no idea that I still had all this in my lap top. I am having to clean out things as my little lap top can't store a lot of things. And when I see what's in here, it's no wonder.

I always wondered how Bernardo could carry that piece of furniture (and no I'm not talking about the governor) into the secret passage. Any theories?

Sue K., 10/07/00

My Theory on how Bernardo moved the governor and the couch:

Bernardo pushed and strained. It was no use. He thought if only he could just get it moving, he could build up the momentum and keep it going. He stood straight, his hands on his hips, trying to decide how to save the governor. Suddenly there were men coming out from behind the walls of the hacienda. Rebatos? No, they did not look like rebatos? These men were all dressed oddly. They wore white shirts with short sleeves.

They wore tight blue pants of coarse material. One of them nodded to Bernardo before he joined the others in lifting the couch and moving it to the secret passage. They dusted off their hands and left. Bernardo's head began to spin. He knew he had to sit down because he felt very disney. Then he heard a voice, again from behind a wall. It said, "Action!" And the room went quiet until Zorro appeared.

The couch had casters? or, it was a hover couch? or, Bernardo did some more of his magic as in previous episodes, and a magician never tells his secrets.

Carolynn, 11/22/02

Since Bernardo can pull watches out of donkey's ears, no one should be surprised at the real magic he can do.

Janis W, 11/23/02

Naw, just had casters Wheel that sucker out into the behind-the-stairs area that didn't really exist right through the sliding wardrobe. Easy for one man to do

Janis W, 01/27/03

Bernardo, being the erudite manservant that he is, simply pulled out his portable Star Trek communicator and buzzed Scotty to beam them up.

I like all the theories about this scene, but really, don't we all have to admit that it will forever be "couched" in mystery?
