(Diego has agreed to meet Magdelena, and found her to be very attractive. He is taking her for a ride, and wants Sergeant Garcia to come along to to keep Dona Inez company.)

(Diego and Bernardo discuss the man who was killed in the pueblo. Bernardo tells Diego that the body has already been buried.)

One of the things I most enjoy about this episode is that we get to see a side of Diego that we really don't see again, Diego the flirt. While he seems to like Anna Maria from the beginning, he does not have with her, or any other woman, the immediate, sexual draw that he has to Magdalena. Perhaps somewhere rolling around in the back of his mind are the stories he heard about her. Maybe he found those tales enticing. Maybe in his mind they gave her a flair that the good women of his daily life didn't have. What ever the reason, from the moment he lays eyes on her, Diego is transformed. He is suave, coy, romantic, flirtatious, and utterly charming.
