Chapter: Prologue
Deep down low in the britches of the night, lingered nothing, except for a single raven. It peered out over the city in search for prey. It looked up at the sky and there was no moon due to the heavy clouds. The raven looked down, continuing its search, disgusted. It flew off when the clock struck midnight, leaving the town again inaudible. * * * Xellos bowed down to a figure of a woman overshadowed by the dead of night and awaited for a voice. "You're late," a large voice surged from the shadows. Xellos said smirking,"I had my reasons." She retaliated with a smirk, "Xellos, you're toying with fate, dear boy." She sighed then continued. "I have buisness for you to attend to. Since you're so close to Ms. Inverse, this mission will work just fine for you. I need you to distract her. That's it. Just distract her. I have... a..." friend" that has work to do. Knowing Inverse, she'll try to get in her way. Just keep her busy as she attends to her buissness. Got it?" He got up, smiled, and asked, "So just who is...this... "friend" of yours?" She was taken by surprise by the question and she sat there flustered and thinking. Finally, she came to a conclusion and said, "As you would say ... 'Sore wa hitsumitsu desu'!" His smile faded and he looked down at the ground, shuffling his feet. "You don't have to rub it in." Then he turned and teleported away. "Hm... Now this should be interesting," she said after he disappeared. * * * At an eatery, by a seaport, only sounds of slurping, gulping, gorging, glushing, and destruction could be heard. Inside were the demolishers of all food... the couple of Lina and Gourry. "OOSHII!!! (Delicious) Seafood is sooooo gooood!" Lina squealed in delight. Gourry agreed by stuffing his face with more and grunting. "Good grief ... You two never change, thank goodness," a young, quiet voice said by the entrance. Lina and Gourry looked up in surprise and watched as an unfamiliar figure came towards them. When the stranger approached the light of the candleflame on the table, Lina easily reconized who it was. It was Amelia. "Amelia! How are you? Sit down and let's talk!" Lina invited. "Amelia, long time no see!" Gourry greeted. Amelia sat and began, "It's very nice to see you two again. It's been awefully quiet without you guys around, not meaning that as an insult. Yes, it has been quite some time since we've last met. Two years... both of your weddings." "Ah, yes. How old are you now, by any chance?" Lina asked. "Oh... I'm nineteen." "N-N...NINTEEN?! Sheesh! I've known you for eight years. Wow. It's been such a long time. You've grown a lot! What brings you in these parts anyway?" She looked down and blushed. "Well...uh...um... my father sent me on my own to see the world, of course make peace treaties, and um... well..." "Yes?" Lina asked nudging a tiny bit closer. "Um... find... a, um... husband." She blushed an even deeper color of red. Amelia obvisiously seemed to be uncomfortable so Lina tried to help her by sipping up some coffee and casually saying, "Oh. That's nice." Of course her purpose was defeated when Gourry dumbly blurted out saying, "Hey, what about Zelgadis?" Amelia's head snapped up immediatly and she watched Lina jump on Gourry, pull his hair, and threaten to throw a fireball in his face if he didn't shut up. They both sat up and Lina began thinking rapidly. She saw Amelia was looking at the ground and was clentching a napkin in her fists, until the point where her knuckles were white. She got a small idea and tried it out. "Yes, what about Zel. It's been a while since we've seen him as well. The last I heard he went to Camos Islands to look for another thing that could cure him. Who knows where he's at now?" The truth actually was that he wasn't too far away. He was a town away headed in the direction and of the current town the others were located in. People began throwing things at him but he just dodged them, and others called him names but it just pretty much went in one ear and out the other. After being a chimera for more than half his life he got use to it. He saw the bar and went inside. Everyone inside turned to gap at the strange looking stranger. He looked around the room and thought, 'Sheesh, tough crowd'. He went up to the bar-tender and quietly said, "Vodka-bourbon, please, sir." The tender's eyebrow just shifted and said, "What if I don't? Ya' see... We don't take to kindly to freaks here." Zel shifted uncomfortably at the harsh word. 'All right plan B,' he thought. Without looking up, his hand shot forward and grabbed the tender by the shirt and tugged it closer to him. Calmly Zel said looking up, "Look pal. I relize you people don't care for me, but I've had a tough day and would like something to cut through the chill with. I don't want to hurt you, I would just like some God-damned service. You abide to your job, get me a drink, then you won't have to look my ugly face again, and I yours." He turned his head and saw a bunch of men around him with swords threatening to pierce. He carefully let the man down and turned towards them. "You have something to say?" he questioned. "Get out," one man said lifting his sword to Zel's throat. "You better ease up out of my face, before something bad happens to you." A man from behind struck Zel in the back. Zel didn't do anything but looked behind and watched the man's sword fall apart. The other men looked at that man in wonder of what happened leaving their defences open. Zel took out his sword and quickly hit each of their swords and they fell into pieces. "Too late," he muttered. In the meantime, Xellos was in the same town and thinking quietly to himself, 'Keep Lina busy? How so? I truthfully don't want to fight Lina. I'm definatly not in the mood for it today. Maybe if I send someone in to provoke them to fight. They'd fight him and if they defeated him then I just keep sending more. That should keep them busy a while. Then I won't have to get my hands dirty.' He smiled. 'You're a genius.' He walked by the bar but was stopped when a whole bunch of men walked out grumbling about some blue freak breaking their swords. This of course interested Xellos and he peeked inside and saw Zel. 'Speak of me, there they are.' Xellos thought as he jumped onto the roof and began summoning a monster. The bar-tender gave him the drink he requested and just as he was about to gulp it down he heard it. A roar of a hideous monster. "Hmph. Long time no see," he said getting up to go fight it. Xellos observed him on the roof as Zel left the building. "Hm... It's just him. I wonder where the others are. Well, perhaps after he relizes how strong it is, he'll go after the others, leading me to Lina." Zel observed the beast a moment and he relized the town wasn't a good place to fight. He would have to lead it into the woods. He thought a moment and it came to him. 'No. Nevermind. It's ridiculous. Heh heh. Actually, why not? You've done more crazier things in your life before, right? So this one wouldn't be any different. All right, I'll do it.' He shot forward and took the monster by the horns and hopped onto its back. It was an ugly creature. It looked like a cross of Shabradnigdo, a fly, an elk, and a tranasorous-rex, that was about three times the size of Zel. At first the creature bucked and kicked trying to get the little man creature of it. Zel pushed on its horns and much to his surprise it went into that direction. He directed it into the forest and jumped off. It turned snarling with saliva dripping down its razor sharp teeth. It looked like if he made one mistake fighting that thing, the results would be unforgiving. This battle would certainly be tricky. Zel thought a moment, considering the attacks he could do. Then it came down to one. His first bet was Astral Vine. He summoned it unto his sword then stood staring at the snarling beast, ready to spring into action. The monster moved first with incredible speed. Zel moved back and tried to strike it. It teleported away and almost landed atop of Zel but he dodged. He tried again. It was too fast. Too fast for Astral Vine, however Zel didn't want to go to spells just yet. It lunged at him but he jumped back and this time actually hit it. It didn't even puncture the skin however. It turned around quickly and almost hit him. Zel put his sword away and decided to try his hand at spells. "DAMU BRAS!" he yelled and sacred light burst out and hit the creature. This it stopped at and shook it off. "DUG HAUT!" The ground bursted up and the land underneath the creature collapsed. Zel sat there a moment catching his breath a moment then the monster came back up. This time he was on the defensive while the monster started trying to catch Zel with one of its twelve-inch-saber claws. Finally, it stopped and it began to shake. Zel thought it was tired or something, but he was terribly wrong. The monster opened its mouth and a Zel-sized beam came from it and shot him. Back at the eatery, Amelia snapped strait up in her seat then looked around as if something had just bit her. "Amelia... desu ka? (Are you ok?)" Amelia nodded. "Yes, I'm alright, it's just... I- I feel like there's something wrong with Zelgadis-san. L-Like he's hurt or something. In some type of... danger or trouble." Lina looked at her a moment. "Are you sick?" Amelia darted a look back, feeling somewhat insulted. "N-nani? (W-what?)" "I'm wondering if you're thinking right." After seeing Amelia beggining to glare at her she decided to continue. "I disagree with you. You said 'Zel...in trouble.' Just those three words don't mix together. Knowin' Zel, he's alright." He lifted himself up slowly, still recovering from the shock of the blow, however he wasn't ready to give up. Even if he knew it meant killing himself he wouldn't give up. He ran towards the monster and shouted, "FLARE BIT!" and a whole bunch of small fireballs shot out towards the monster. It was able to dodge most of them so it wasn't a really good hit. It returned with another full fledged Zel-sized beam. It hit Zel with such force that when he hit a tree it exploded into tiny sharp splinters, many cutting his face. "Damn you," he choked. He got up and the monster was already running towards him. Zel quickly charged up and shot out, "RAH TILT!" It hit the monster hard and a cloud of dust flew up blinding Zel. For a moment, nothing happened, leaving Zel to think he killed it. He turned and started walking away but he heard a growl. He pivoted around. "Son of a-!" he started but was cut short when the monster pounced on him, forcing him up against a stone wall. he tried to scramble loose however it bit him on the one place on his body that wasn't embedded with many stones: between his left shoulder and neck. Zel screamed in excrutiating agony, while the monster savored the taste of his blood and pain. It pulled back, taking that large piece of flesh with it. Normally, the battle would have been relitavly easy if Lina and the others were there, but they weren't and now Zel was paying for it. He couldn't take it any more. He began what he knew might easily be the end of his life. "Darkness beyond twilight, Crimson beyond the blood that flows, Buried in the flow of time. In thy great name, I pledge myself to the darkness. Let the fools who stand in our way be destroyed, By the power you and I possess! DRAGON SLAVE!" He took the powerful red ball of condensed strength into his right hand and released it into the monster's face. There was a massive explosion that shook the ground, even the town Lina, Gourry, and Amelia were in. Zel fell to his knees, then onto the ground, screaming at the pain of his wound. Tears drifted onto the ground and he felt himself become faint. He was losing blood and fast. The injury was bad enough, but since he was so close to the dragon slave when it went he had a third degree burn, in and around it. 'So, this is it then, huh?' he thought. 'This is how it's going to end. This is where it is all over. And I never got... my flesh back...Everyone... What about everyone... Amelia... I never... got to... Amelia... no... I should... have thought... about her... before doing this stupid mission... Amelia... I never... was able...never... got ... to...' "Amelia," he gasped then he fainted. The others had left the eatery after they heard the explosion. They looked around in confusion, trying to find the source of such power. Gourry spotted out large cracks in the ground that led to the forest, so they went on in. They followed the cracks until they reached a large creator. Lina and Gourry started inspecting the creator, while Amelia searched around the area. She was walking cautiously, looking at every detail as she went, however one detail missed her, because she had stepped on him. She stepped down and felt something that was very hard... harder than the ground. See didn't want to look down because she was afraid of what she might see. She gathered her strength then quickly looked down. She stepped on Zel's arm. She fell back screaming because she saw how bad he was bleeding. She immediatly started a recovery spell, but it had little effect. Lina and Gourry came running over and Lina began assisting her with another recovery. This time it worked definatly for the better. It cleared up most of the blood and the burn, however the shoulder wound stayed. "That one's gonna have to heal on its own," Lina said. Gourry picked him up and they walked back to the town. Xellos appeared and said, "Well... yes, he did destroy it on his own... however he did lead me to her. His purpose served." Then he felt a small slashing feeling at his stomach. "Eiyuck... bad gas," he said smiling. "That's enough, you dunderhead. Come back. I need to see you," the female voice said. Xellos teleported in and bowed, the same way as he did before. "I said I want you to do it! Didn't I say that? I don't want someone else doing your dirty work. Now, I'm out a monster. Go on, get out! Do your own work!" she yelled peevishly. "Sure, whatever you old hag," Xellos grumbled under his breath as he was about to leave. "What did you say?!" she screeched. "I said my mother was an old bag!" "Oh... mine too." Xellos just shook his head and teleported away. Zel awoke from a horrible compressing feeling on his wound. His eyes snapped open and he saw it was Amelia. "Oh, Zelgadis-san. Gomen (Sorry). I didn't mean to wake you. Are you okay?" she asked softly. He groaned in pain as she took the bloody bandage off. "I know it hurts. You just have to be strong." She took a new towel and pushed it against the wound. To try to stave off the pain he tried talking to her. "So... it's been a while, hasn't it. Here I am, at the age of twenty-five, Gourry twenty-eight, Lina twenty-four, and you, the only one still in teens but just barely, nineteen." "So you do remember my age. Lina forgot." "Typical LINa," he said with a grunt as she pushed a little harder. He studied her a moment. She became more attractive since the last time they met. Her face was still ever so gentle. Sun-kissed soft skin she had, her eyes;the most beautiful sapphire that spoke with kindness, love, and justice;her body was slender and lean; her hands were graceful, her silky violet hair reached down to her shoulders now, and she wore the outfit she always had when they fought together in the earlier days. He looked back up to her face and the word beautiful came into his mind. While thinking about her his gaze lowered somewhat to chest area. When he realized he was staring at her breasts, he quickly snapped his gaze back up, meeting hers. A violet eyebrow was arched knowingly. Mortified that she knew what he had been staring at, he felt the heat of a blush warm his cheeks. Amelia returned to her work, half- smiling and blushing. "So what did happen to you out there?" she asked breaking the deafening silence. "Well, there was a monster in the town I was in so I led it into the forest and we fought. Normal methods didn't work to well without you guys around, so I left with nothing but a dragon slave. It bit me and threw it right in its face," he replied. Amelia looked astonished. "A-A dragon slave, Zelgadis-san?! Zelgadis-san! That could have killed you! No one knows how to fully control that thing except for Lina-san." "Look, I didn't even want to use that thing. I only used it because I had to kill it before it did me. Normally, I wouldn't have even considered it." "All right. Just make me one promise." "What's that?" "Promise me you won't use it again until you completly learn how to, okay? I just don't want to see you get hurt." He smiled then replied, "All right. I promise." She finished bandaging him up. His whole left arm was bandaged up too so he wouldn't use and injure himself more. Later that night, Xellos decided to "distract" them. He went to their inn. He saw a maid walking down the hallway and he called her attention. "Oi, Onna-chan!(Hey, miss!) Have you seen a red-haired girl, accompanied with a blonde idiot? Could you tell me where their room is? I'm a friend. We agreed to meet here." She turned to talk. She appeared to be having some trouble with the tower of towels she was holding. "Well, here let me take those off your hands a moment," he said taking the mountainous towels. "Ah, arigatou.(Thank you.) Those things weigh a ton. Well, yeah. I've seen 'em. I believe that's their room. That's right. Over to the left. I think that's their room. I can't be sure. I saw them enter that room together, so it must be theirs. Today's my first day of work," she said scratching her head. He helped her put the towels away then left to that room. "Arigatou for the help!" she called to him. "Iie.(No.) Arigatou," Xellos smiled as he approached the room. He opened the door and went inside. He realized that he enveloped completely in fog. 'What are they doing?' he pondered to himself. He squinted hard to try to make out something in the mist. Lina and Gourry were in the same hotspring! The bubbles were rising up on their quivering theighes, and they caressed each other in places others shouldn't even imagine. Lina opened her eyes to gaze upon her lover, however what she saw behind him infuriated her. She screeched, deprying herself away from Gourry. She looked at Gourry a moment then pushed him under the water. She grabbed a towel and began yelling, "HENTAI!!! (PERVERT!!!) GET OUT!!! GET OUT NOW! GET THE HELL OUT, RIGHT NOW!!!" Xellos quickly started backing away towards the door however he got a bar of soap thrown in his face. The force of the hit caused him to hit the door, jamming it shut. Xellos quickly turned to try to open it. The beast came closer and closer screaming, "What the hell are you waiting for, you sick demented freak?!!!" Finally, he was released free from the evil beasts clutches, however not without being seriously disturbed for the next thousand years of his life. He wobbled out of there. His manhood......(mazukohood) would be scared for a long time. He had a black eye and he was certain that he have nightmares for several years to come. He walked into Lina's room and tried to talk to her. "Ya!(Hi!) How are you? It's been a while ^_^. Gomenusai(I'm very sorry) about that little incident back there. I never knew what that room was!" Lina decided to play dumb and said, "Oh, that's okay Xellos! Things like that happen, you know!" Then she turned around and put him in a headlock and screamed, "NOW!!!" After that Gourry popped out of nowhere, tied Xellos to a chair, shook him violently, then threw him into a tank of pirhanas. After a minute or so, they let him out. He all torn up, however he looked still relitively happy. "Why are you here, Xellos?! You only pop out something bad is happening, the Mazuko are involved in something, or just to piss us off. So, what reason is it this time?" Lina asked. Xellos responded, "Well, if you must know, all three reasons actually." "ALL THREE?! Okay, tell me, what is the Mazuko up to? And what is bad that is going to happen?" "Hm... well.. You see... Sore wa hitsumitsu desu ^_~!(That is a secret!)" Lina swung to hit him but he dodged, sending her flying into the wall. Strangly after that happened, the ground began shaking violently. Lina and Gourry fell to the ground while Xellos stood staring at ceiling. His expression wore confusion... yet it seemed like he was trying to figure out if it was something familiar. Suddenly, the room began flooding in with water. His expression morphed from confusion into fear and hatred. "Dolphin," he wispered as he teleported away. The room was now filled with water and the pihranas were raging free. Lina and Gourry were bitten by them violently left and right. They would have to get out of there before they drownd, Lina realized. She saw the window and she swam over to it and kicked it open. Water began spilling out of the room. She grabbed Gourry then they were sucked out. Outside it was dry and dark. Zel and Amelia were already out as well. They looked at each other as if asking 'what happened?' They heard a large explosion, Xellos came flying at them, and crashed into Gourry. Still lying on the ground he teleported again. They heard loud crashing above their heads and they realized the battling was happeningg above them, so they ran into the brush to avoid the fight. The fight was happening so fast they couldn't even see them. Suddenly, a blast stared hurling towards them but Xellos stood in front of them and got hit. The force hit him hard and he coughed up blood but immediatly covered it up. "Xellos!" Lina yelled. "Who are you fighting?" Gourry asked. Slowly Xellos got up and responded, "Dolphin, war lordess of water. She is obvisiously strong, that's why I must fight her... She can follow me anywhere I run. I'm not going to give up." He teleported back into battle and the battle began again. Xellos was punching at her vigerously. She took a swipe at him and he accidently dropped his staff, immediatly dropping his guard. She kicked him in the stomach and bent over to ease the pain. He backed off a little and recomposed himself. He went forward to try to punch her but she grabbed his fist and crushed it in her grasp. The grotesque sound of cracking bones filled the air. Everything seemed to stand still in that moment, yet everything seemed to billow or die. The tree sunk over, the grass died and shrivled up, and felt faint. Vaguely they got a glipse of Dolphin. She was tall and pretty, long blue hair, icy cold eyes, and she wore a light blue kimono. Xellos' arm began freezing over with ice after a few seconds. He screamed and whithered in pain. It seemed the whole earth shuddered with his cry. He pulled back quickly from Dolphin's icy grasp, nearly tearing his arm off. "Omare...(Bastard...)" he rasped grabbing his arm. She shot forward and headbutted him, knocking the mazuko unconscience and hurling towards the ground. When he landed he began coughing and sputtering up blood. "Xellos-san!" Amelia cried. She began a recovery spell but Lina stopped her. "Lina-san!" "Amelia! He's a mazuko and white magic hurts him, even if it is a recovery spell or not!" Dolphin flew for him to finish the job but Lina intercepted with her sword. "Chooto maate! (Hold on!) He's got nothin' left to give. How 'bout tryin' someone with more spunk?" "Execution accepted," Dolphin said with an icy pitch. They fought off, the two in a ravishing frenzy of punches and hits. Lina threw a FIREBALL and Dolphin screamed although it missed. "Anata chisai onnainu!(You little bitch!)" she screeched, throwing a FREEZE ARROW but Lina threw a FLARE ARROW melting it in midair. 'Ah, I get it now! Her weak point is fire!' Lina thought. She sent another FIREBALL towards Dolphin but this time she blasted a large whirlpool of water out, extingiushing it. 'Gah! I was wrong!' Lina corrected herself. "I have had enough of this!" Dolphin excliamed. She jolted forward and grabbed Lina by the arms. Lina stood stunned and then she shivered feeling extremely cold. She looked down and realized that her body was begining to freeze over just the same way Xellos' arm did. She screamed and tried to struggle free from the evil frost. Slowly all sound went to an end as Lina's struggling did. It was all over as quickly as it began. She had stopped screaming, struggling, breathing, and living. All were silenced. Gourry's eyes burned with tears as he looked at his encased lover. He ran towards her and took out his holy sword Gorun Nova. Just he was about to strike the ice with a freeing blow but Dolphin stopped him. She grabbed him and flinged him into a wall. When he made contact with it she froze him to it. "Son of a-!" Zel screamed as he arosed to go fight her, but Amelia held him back. "Iie, Zelgadis-san! You can't! Your arm needs to heal! I'll take her." "How can I just sit here and watch you fight? I'm going with you!" "Stay here and watch Xellos-san. Dolphin might come back and try to kill him." Zel let out an exasperated sigh. "Hai. (All right.) Just look out for her freezing blasts please." Amelia smiled and ran out to go fight Dolphin. Zel watched her fight and she was doing well. He heard a grunt behind him and he turned to see Xellos awake and observing his broken arm. "It's going to have to come off," he said grimly. "You'll have to help me get it off," he continued. Zel shot him an icy glare and coldly said, "I wouldn't help you even if my life depended on it." "Maybe not yours... but what about your friends?" He pointed to Amelia and she got kicked. Zel sighed and accepted defeat. "Fine, what do you need?" "Your sword. You're going to have to strike it right here, next to the elbow and-" "Chooto maate! (Hold on!) You expect ME to-...?" "Hai. I obviously can't." Zel reached for his sword but hesitated a moment and wanted more reassurance. "Ano, (Uh,) nothing will happen when it comes off right?" "Iie. It'll just hang there a moment and I'll have to break it off the rest of the way." Zel akwardly took his sword and raised it above his head, then it came down. When it hit Xellos, nearly all speed left and Zel's blade with extreme slowness sliced through Xellos' arm. Xellos began screaming in sheer pain, revealing large sharp fangs. His scream was nothing anyone had ever heard before, not even another mazuko, not even Dolphin. Dolphin and Amelia had stopped fighting and watched this painful session take place. The earth beneath their feet began crumbling as almost it seemed to be at fear from Xellos' cry. His hair began billowing and his eyes were opened and glowing blood red. It seemed like the world stood still in this moment and all that was heard on earth was the cry of Xellos. Finally, Zel's blade reached the end of Xellos' flesh and black blood flowed everywhere. Xellos came out of his trance-like state and his body fell limp for a few moments then he regained conscienceness. He grabbed the possessed thing and began tugging it off but it came slowly breaking seemed to be strands of black. Each time one snapped, Xellos would flinch and his hair began billowing again. Finally it came off and he threw it at the ground and it disinergrated, leaving dead blackened grass. Zel looked at Xellos in disgust. "Does that always happen when you loose somthing like that?" he asked. Xellos couldn't respond for the pain was too imense but he just nodded, holding the stub to keep the blood from flowing. Slowly he arised and starting walking off towards the battle. "Chooto! (Wait!) You're actually going to fight instead of running off to heal?" Zel asked. "Should I? I can't. She can follow me wherever I run. And my arm I can't heal it. It grows back on its own." Xellos responded painfully as he limped off to battle. Amelia began growing tired and she fell to the ground exhausted. Zel looked up to examine what Dolphin was doing in response to this and she was preparing for a freezing blast. Zel sprinted to Amelia's aid, his intentions were to tackle her out of the way, however Dolphin saw past his plan and she hurled the blast immediatly, the moment they came in contact with each other they were silenced as one. Xellos limped forward and Dolphin stood with a hand on her hip grinning. She flew forward and grabbed Xellos by his shirt. "Hmph! Let's all feel sorry for little Xellos. The one who has been rejected as a dark lord over and over and over. Too bad you're too weak to save your friends, who are slowly dying in their ice coffins!" Dolphin teased. Then she laughed in his face, then threw him into a tree breaking in half. She floated on top of him and said, "It's over." She got a large blast ready and was about to shoot it however something stopped her. "STOP!" a voice thundered through the darkness. The force of the voice was so powerful it knocked Dolphin against the wall, bringing up a large veil of smoke. The smoke cleared a bit and Dolphin could be seen again. Blood had trickled out the side of her mouth. "Who's there?! Show yourself!" Dolphin ordered. Xellos looked behind him and saw who it was. It was a woman... a beautiful woman at that. She had long silky blonde hair, her body was long and slender, her skin a soft buttermilk color and it looked soft to the touch, lips that could shame a red rose, however her bangs shaded her eyes and they couldn't be seen. She wore a white shirt, black leather pants, a violet suede fabric was tied around her waist, feathery shoulder guards that were connected to a black velvet cape. She looked about the age of twenty-two. "How dare you be so insolent to attack me!" Dolphin screamed. When the bonde headed girl didn't move, Dolphin struke. She swiped at her but the second her fist came in contact with the girl's flesh she vanished. Dolphin looked around in total confusion. "Where is she," Dolphin wispered, looking around. Suddenly, she got punched from behind. She flew into a wall. She turned and saw the girl standing behind her. "Shimatta. She's fast." She tried again. She started punching hastilly at the girl however she didn't move. When Dolphin punched her it went right through. Dolphin fell back in total mystery of how she did that. She looked at the grass and saw skid marks in the grass. 'That means she was moving! It's just it's too fast for the eye to see! SHIMATTA! She really is that fast!' Dolphin concluded. 'Fine there always is one way how to do it. A one hit K.O. which means a one hit Kill Out! Instant Death!' For some reason it seemed like the girl heard her thought and she knew she was in trouble. "How much does it take to satisfy your hunger for war?!" the girl screamed. "War is pointless! It means nothing but hatred and death!" Her hair began billowing and now her eyes were visible because they started glowing red. Dolphin started charging up for her most ultimate attack, an attack that would freeze a heart then shatter it. The blonde girl began screaming and she was now extremely angry. The ground beneath her sunk in and the ice surrounding Lina, Gourry, Zel, and Amelia shattered off. Lina looked around in total question. Xellos teleported and quickly grabbed each of them and put them to safty. "What's going on Xellos?!" Lina yelled over the sound of the girl's voice. "The blonde girl, I think is charging up to kill Dolphin!" Dolphin's attack was finished and she was ready to shoot it. The girl however wasn't even near ready. Xellos saw that and he saw to that the girl could do it. He teleported by Dolphin and held her by a lock. "Xellos! You baka! (idiot!) Let me go!" The girl hunched over and huge demon wings sprouted from her back. "A-A DEMON?!!!" Dolphin screeched. "A-A MAZUKO?!!" The girl's wings expanded and she begun chanting something. "Above the plain so deep, Beyond the darkest night, The final cry of angels, Shall be heard, Only by those of death! I hail to you thee great demond, Crush those of peace, Destroy those of virtue, Let death overcome the life, And let the world be overcome with chaos! Blood shall be drenched upon Earth! CHAOS' C-....!" A black barrier surrounded her as she chanted. Her eyes gleamed red and a flickering clash of black surrounded her hand. She took and raised it above her head. Before the world had seemed to have been full of sound, but now there wasn't a single sound except for the clashing of the power. When she screamed, 'Chaos' was about to shoot it at Dolphin, but her eyes suddenly lost their gleam and she covered the power. It let out a huge blast knocking her unconscience and the power hit the ground. It had obviously lost control. Lina ran over to the girl and tried to awaken her. "Oi! (Hey!) Wake up! C'mon! That thing you shot has lost control! C'mon! You have to do something!" Slowly she regained conscienceness. When she realized what was going on she said, "Oh God! What have I done?!" she exclaimed as she teleported away. Lina looked around frantically, paniced that she was in front of this raging power, stronger than the Giga Slave, by herself. She reappeared after a second. "Gomen. It's your turn now," she said then she grabbed Lina's wrist and teleported with her. They were suddenly in the middle of the desert. The young girl dropped Lina and was just about to leave but Lina said, "Chooto! What's going on?!" "I would tell you but things are desperate. The answers will come. Trust me! They will come when we meet again!" Then the mysterious girl left. 'Who is she? She's much more powerful than I am obviously. Chooto... Xellos couldn't even stop Dolphin, but she could... Is SHE more powerful than Xellos?!' Lina thought. Lina turned at the sound of Gourry's voice. "Lina! Lina, what's going on?!" "I-I don't know Gourry..." Back on the battlefield, Dolphin hammered her way into Xellos' ribs but he still held her tight. "Baka mazuko! Let me go! You do realize that if you don't we're both going to die? Trust me, you let me go, and I'll let you live," Dolphin reasoned. "Why? Dying, knowing you're dead too, would be a great honor!" Xellos rasped. She tried stuggling again but it still failed. Xellos looked across the power and he knew it would his destiny so he held tighter. Suddenly, he saw the blonde girl by the power. Slowly, she placed her hand on it and it looked like she said something, then she vanished again. Suddenly, the power vanished and there was nothing but silence again. Quickly, she appeared in back of Xellos. She put her hand on his shoulder then vanished with him. Dolphin looked around in confusion. As fast as the silence had came, it left with the sound of clashing from the power. Dolphin turned and saw the power coming towards her. It was to fast for her to react. It hit her and she screamed. She looked at herself and saw pieces of her disinergrating into nothingness and she knew this would be it. * * * Several weeks had past since the incident that night. Zel's shoulder was still a little injured but it was getting better. Xellos or any mazuko hadn't been seen since. They assumed he was caught in the blast and he was dead. They hadn't a single clue of where the blonde girl had gone and they didn't know if they'd ever see her again. But Lina had said, with power like that, they'd see her again real soon.
