Cheeta
Willem's beloved Bernese Mountain Dog 
Cheeta. 15th July 2002 Willem continues - "You thought that you also could win the fight against that terrible cancer, Therefore when I read the story of your Sam I knew exactly how you must feel yourself. One year before I lost my Berner Cheeta also to bone cancer, all in all I have lost 4 Newfoundlands and 3 Berners all to cancer. After Cheeta and Simba passed away I painted a portait of them and also one from my gang at that time. I am a hobby painter without any aducation in painting. I send you a photo of those paintings but don't look too critically. I now have only one young Berner 11 months old now. Her name is Dingo and I hope that she will be the first of my Berners who will not die of cancer. I must tell you this story and I hope you do not find this sentimental, but I think we have something in common with the loss of our best friends and our fight against their illness. All the time with the fight of Cheeta and Simba, you and Karen Connors gave me so much support in the battle. With many thanks to Willem for sharing his story and his beautiful pictures.
