Anime is the Japanese word for Animation. In Japan, the animation industry is much more towards the forefront than it is in the United States, and shows covering virtually every genre can be found in the form of television shows, OAV (Original Animation Videos), movies, and feature films. Much like any other entertainment medium, anime can range from the very silly to the very serious, and is not necessarily intended for children or any specific age group.

There is 2 kinds of anime, the first one is Dubbed anime (aka DUB), and the other one is Subtitled anime (aka SUB). Dubbed anime is anime that has had the original Japanese soundtrack replaced by a new track with English-speaking actors. In most cases, the original music is preserved. Subtitled anime is anime that has been translated into English with the original Japanese soundtrack preserved. The English (or other languages) subtitle (duh!) appears across the bottom of the screen.
Many anime titles have made their way to the North America in the past 30 years so you should be able to find some classic titles at most chain video rental stores (Blockbuster). Recently, there has been an incredible upsurge in the North America anime market, with several commercial companies releasing translated English anime into the theatrical market (Pokemon & Digimon) and for home release on TV, VHS, VCD, and DVD (Card Captor Sakura & Dragonball etc...) So the easy way to get a hold on some anime is off your nearest video store or simply off your TV. (err... I don't think so hehe...)
There are also a number of Fans Subtitling organizations who provide free subtitled copies of currently unlicensed anime titles to fans. Or some fans sub distributor websites, such as Anime Infinity. ;)

One of the most useful services of the Internet is FTP, or File Transfer Protocol. FTP is a network protocol. It also refers to the method by which we transfer data and program files between computers on the Internet. We refer to computers configured to accept FTP requests as FTP servers. These servers store a tremendous amount of information, and it is available to anyone on the Internet using FTP.
In an FTP client/server connection, the user's computer is called the client or local computer. The FTP server is called the host or remote computer. Downloading refers to transferring files from the FTP server to the client computer. Uploading refers to transferring files to the FTP server from the client computer.
Basic Terminology:
host - a machine connected to the internet (domain name or IP)
remote host - the machine you connect to (domain name or IP)
local host - the machine you connect from
domain name - ex: ftp.angelfire.com
IP address - ex: 192.168.88.33
port - a "gate" or "door way" for the client and server to communicate.
files - files on either the remote or local host
username - your username for the remote host
password - your password for the remote host
upload - transfer files from local to remote host
download - transfer files from remote to local host[ Back to Top ]
There are many FTP clients out there, some well known ones are: CuteFTP, BulletProof FTP, and WS_FTP. Currently i am using CuteFTP PRO 1.0 and found it pretty user friendly and useful comparing to other FTP programs, however, it is a shareware. Therefore you will have to purchase the software or find your way to make it fully operational. =)

How do i connect using FTP clients?
Well first of all, you will have to retrieve server information, such as domain name, port, username, and password. You can get this information by clicking on FTP located on the navigation bar at the top of the site. Or you can click here.

How do i connect to the FTP server?
Depending on what FTP client you are using, it is different for everybody. But each of these programs must have a place for you to enter the required information.
In CuteFTP for example, where it says host you should enter the domain name or the IP of the server. Same thing for the port, username, and password. Then when you click connect, you should be able to connect and login to the server.
However, please keep in mind that when the server is busy, you should wait and try again later and when the server is down, you will have to wait until the operation hours. You will get yourself ban from the server if you continuously hammer the server.
Common Terminology:
server busy - server refuses your connection because it is too overloaded. You should wait about 90 seconds before you reconnect.
server down - server had been shutdown for maintenance.
hammering - hammering is repeatedly trying to connect to an FTP site with little or no time between attempts. This is often compared to knocking continually on someone's front door, trying to get in when the house is full.
banned - when you constantly hammering the server, you will get yourself ban from the server. Meaning you are NOT allowing to enter the server.[ Back to Top ]
What is this error message(s)?
421 Anonymous access not allowed - the site operator has disabled anonymous access. This means that the site is accessible only to an account holder or if the user have the right username and password.
421 Idle time of # minutes expired - you were connected to the site for too long without doing anything. Site operators will often set an idle time limit of 1 or more minutes to avoid having a slot occupied by a user who is not keeping an eye on their client, and doing nothing. Occasionally, you will get this error if a transfer stalls for the length of the idle time limit due to a slow node somewhere in the connection path, or heavy traffic on the net.
421 No more users allowed on your IP - most site operators will impose a limit of one connection for each user. If you, or you client through its settings, try to make a second connection, it will be refused. you will also occasionally get this error if you have been connected to a site and lose your connection without logging out (for example, if your ISP drops your connection), then try to log in again before the idle time out causes your previous login to be dropped. If this happens, just wait a while for the idle time out. If you continue to get this error, contact the site operator, he or she may not have a maximum idle time set.
Note: only 1 connection is allowed per IP.
421 Password not accepted - you may have entered your user name incorrectly, check your spelling. Or you may have been banned from the site for an infraction of the site rules.
421 System is currently closed - The server is online but closed to all logins except the system administrator. This usually means the site operator is busy testing his system or the server is about to close and the operator is allowing those already logged in to finish transferring their current file.

Well basically there are not many rules. A few things that you should keep in mind is that you are only allow to have one connection at a time. Meaning, don't try to connect as a different user, when you are already connected! This will only get you ban from the server.
Set the delay between retries to 90 seconds. If not your FTP client will be treats as hammering the server, therefore, you will also get yourself ban!
The contents from the server are for educational use only; you must delete anything that you've retrieved from the server within 24 hours. Else you are not allowed to download anything from the server.

I cannot connect to the FTP, what's wrong?
You might have made some typo while entering the server's information. Double check and see if you had entered the host, port, username, and password correctly.
You might also be banned from the server, either you hammered the server and get yourself banned for 60 minutes (temporary banned) or you hammered the server and crashed it, therefore get yourself banned forever (permanently banned).
It can also be that the server is currently down or busy.
Or I messed up something hehe...

I have been banned from the server, what can I do about it?
Your best course of action is to get in touch with the operator and find out why you have been banned. If you haven't made any serious breech of protocol, the operator will usually remove the ban if you convince him or her that you will behave in future. You can also post it in the forum, which will be faster.
Remember to include your IP address in the e-mail or when you post in the forum.
