Gene Starwind is Outlaw Star's lead character.  He is the perfect anti-hero, a gun toting, wise cracking, arrogant womanizer.  His father was killed before his eyes when he was a child, suspected to be space pirates.  Thus resulting in a special hatred for any space pirate.  Partner and friend James "Jim" Hawking keeps him in line, and out of debt.  Gene is an ace pilot, superior grappler, and skilled in armed and unarmed combat.  His weapon of choice is the legendary Castor Gun, which incorporates ancient magic with technology.  The Castor Gun is rare, and because of this the ammunition is rare and somewhat expensive.  When thrown into a feud between Hot Ice Hilda and the Kei Pirates, Gene finally learns what being and Outlaw is all about.
