Gilliam II is the artificial intelligence that serves as the computer for the XGP15A-II, also known as the Outlaw Star.  Being the computer to the most advanced ship in the universe, Gilliam is rather proud of the Outlaw Star's abilities.  Gilliam services the ship through countless mini robots that travel on a series of rails.  Jim painted one of these mini robots pink to distinguish it from the rest.  That pink robot travels with Jim and company when they are not on the ship.

"The only answer I have in regards to myself is that the name I have been granted is Gilliam II. And that I have been authorized with the maintenance of this vessel."
