James "Jim" Hawking is the brains of the team.  An 11 year old boy genius who can be more mature than Gene at times.  Jim keeps the team out of debt, and tries to keep them out of trouble.  Jim looks up to Gene, even though at times he may not seem to.  Usually the one carrying the ammo around he constantly tells Gene how expensive Castor Shells are and tries to limit Gene's use.
