We've searched high and low to bring you this list of characters in Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. We hope you enjoy this special guide, and hope it will come in handy while watching or reading Dragon Ball! First, each character's English name will be written. Some characters have not yet appeared on English TV yet, and their names have not been confirmed. So please bear with us if for instance "Boo" remains "Buu." Followed by each character's English name, in quotes, will be their official Japanese name as written in Romanji or as it was intended by Akira Toriyama. Characters with asterisks next to their name appeared either in the anime or movies only, not the original story.

Android 8 - "Jinzouningen Hachi Gou"
Dr. Gero's first "successful" creation. Number 8 was magnificently powerful, but possessed a conscience. He befriended Goku, who renamed him Hatchan.

Android 13 - "Jinzouningen Juusan Gou"
The tall leader of the Androids and main villain in DBZ Movie 7, "The Three Super Saiya-jin." He's basically a rip-off of Cell. By himself he's fairly powerful, and when he absorbs two components from Androids 14 and 15, he turns into a big Android.

Android 14 - "Jinzouningen Juuyon Gou"
A big blue guy who looks like he came from a Conan the Barbarian movie. He's the "strongman" of the three Androids in DBZ Movie7 and eventually faces off one on one against Trunks.

Android 15 - "Jinzouningen Juugo Gou"
An "alcoholic android" that takes a swig from his whiskey can every few minutes. He dresses similar to Boy George and he's also very tiny. He's killed by Vegeta.

Android 16 - "Jinzouningen Juuroku Gou"
A pacifist android, Number 16 is solely devoted to killing Goku, but as for the Earth, he loves it and wishes no harm to come to it. He suppresses his goal to kill Goku long enough to join the Cell Game, but ends up sacrificing himself against Cell to make Gohan achieve Super Saiyan 2.

Android 17 - "Jinzouningen Juunana Gou"
One half of the "Devilish Pair," Number 17 is an enhanced human. His sister is Android 18. His last real battle is with Piccolo and what a fight it is! He's later absorbed by Cell and dies with him, but he's resurrected with the Dragonballs.

Android 17 (Future) - "Mirai no Jinzouningen Juunana Gou"
Only different from his counterpart of the past in his lust for blood, he still has the same adventure-seeking attitude of the present day Android 17. But you know, there's a slight twist, like how he drag races air cars . . . on people. He's killed by Future Trunks.

Android 18 - "Jinzouningen Juuhachi Gou"
More thoughtful and calm than her brother, Android 17, Number 18 takes a much larger role in the series as she goes on to marry Krillin later in Dragon Ball Z, and fight alongside Goku for a bit in Dragon Ball GT. She has one daughter, Maron. Android 18 was another one of Dr. Gero's evil enhanced humans.

Android 18 (Future) - "Mirai no Jinzouningen Juuhachi Gou"
very much like Android 18 of the present day, she has the same vain attitude and apathy for her brother's reckless habits. But, of course, she has her violent side too and can get very . . . touchy if she doesn't like an opponent. She's killed by Future Trunks.

Android 19 - "Jinzouningen Juukyu Gou"
An entirely mechanical machine, Android 19 has the ability to suck ki into a red ball on the palms of his hands. Vegeta takes care of this by ripping off his hands and then killing him.

Android 20 - "Jinzouningen Nijuu Gou"
This robot shell serves as a device to carry on Dr. Gero's life. Encased in the head of this robot is Dr. Gero's brain. Built to look and talk like him, this robot is a "reincarnation," if you will, of Dr. Gero. Like Android 19, he can also absorb energy through his palms, and is eventually killed by Dr. Gero's own creation, Android 17.

Baba - "Uranai Baba"
This old witch is Master Roshi's sister who has the unique ability to see the future in her crystal ball. She's about 500 years old and her home address is FS199644CC. She'll read you fortune . . . for a price. Either that or you can face her spooky competitors to win your fortune.

Babidi
The son of Bibidi, creator of Boo.

Bardock
Bardock is Goku's father and the only Saiyan who knew what was going to become of Planet Vegeta, and its people. He was cursed with the ability to see the future, and saw glimpses of his planet being destroyed, as well as images of his son's life on Earth. He makes a last stand against Frieza and tries to kill him, but, of course, his attempt is fruitless and he's killed by the biggest Death Ball Frieza ever created. But as he's dying he finally realizes that it's not him who was destined to defeat Frieza, it was his son. He talks to his son from the after-life while little Kakarot is on his way to Earth and charges him with the task of killing Frieza to avenge his father, and the Saiyans.

Blind Boy - "Moumoku no Shonen"
A blind boy who becomes Boo's first friend. Boo wonders why the boy isn't terrified of him (it's because he can't see). Boo heals the boy's eyes so that he can see him (Boo figures that when he does, he'll be frightened). But when the boy regains his sight he thanks Boo very much and the two chat for a while. The boy asks for some milk, so Boo happily finds a human, turns him into a carton of milk, and brings it back to the boy. The two chat for a little bit, and finally decide to part. The whole scene sets you up for a gag because it's designed to make the reader think that Boo somewhat reforms himself after meeting the boy, but in the last panel of the comic Boo happily blows up a nearby city.

Bra - "Bura"
Bra is Vegeta and Bulma's second child. She's born in 778 A.D. Unlike Pan who seems tomboyish, Bra is more feminine and sticks around her mom. She doesn't appear to be forced to fight by her father, but she apparently loves him a lot and has a lot of pride in him.

Broly - "Burori"
In the DBZ Movie universe, Broly reigns supreme. He's the Legendary Super Saiya-jin and is the only villain who completely dwarfs to power of Goku. For example, Goku fires a Kamehameha directly at his face (meaning less than half an inch away from), and when the dust settles, Broly stands unfazed and smiling. The star of Movies 8, 10, and 11, Broly is one of the greatest villains ever and is insane about beating Goku. They were born on the same day, and despite his weaker power level, Goku's will made Broly cry, creating a deep-seated instinctive hatred within this ruthless monster of a Saiyan.

Bubbles - "Baburusu"
King Kai's pet monkey. It takes Goku 11 days to catch Bubbles on King Kai's planet.

Bulma - "Buruma"
A teenager who is the first person outside Mount Paozu to meet Goku. She befriends Goku and has him tag along as a bodyguard. She's the daughter of Dr. Briefs and is a genius. She invents the Dragon Radar, the Micro Band, and Fighting Jackets, just to name a few things. In Dragon Ball and the first half of Dragon Ball Z, she's smitten with Yamcha, but she eventually loses interest with him because he's too fickle. She actually falls in love with Vegeta because she notices that he's a very lonely man that needs someone. She has two children, Trunks and Bra. She was born in the year 733 A.D. and her home address at the Capsule Corp. is WST3338926K. Her ID number is SSC41453.

Bulma's Mom - "Buruma no mama"
Bulma's mom is a certified ditz. She is always interested in flirting with Goku and Vegeta. In the anime she even suggests she'd like to go on a date with Vegeta.

Burter - "Baata"
Burter is the tall blue member of The Ginyu Force who possesses incredible speed. He's killed by Vegeta.

Cell
The greatest creation of Dr. Gero, Cell is a combination of blood samples taken from Goku, Vegeta, Nappa, Piccolo, Frieza, and King Cold. Cell has three entirely different stages, the second and third are reached by absorbing certain components. These components and Androids 17 and 18. When he finally obtains them, he becomes incredibly powerful and organizes the Cell Game. Cell is finally killed on May 26, 767 A.D. by Super Saiyan 2 Gohan with help from the Z Soldiers.

Cell Jr.
Another one of the traits Cell picks up from his Namekian blood is the ability to asexually reproduce. He can shoot out little copies of himself called Cell Juniors from a tube in his back (which used to be the end of his tail). The Cell Juniors are feisty little guys who seem to have about as much brains as Saibamen, the only difference is, these guys are very powerful. They're nearly as strong as Cell and prove it by beating the snot out of the likes of Vegeta and even Goku. Cell created seven of them, one for each Z Soldier, to beat them up and to make Gohan angry. Unfortunately, it doesn't work, but Cell doesn't care, he just enjoys seeing everyone get maimed by them. Each is eventually killed violently by Gohan when he reaches Super Saiyan 2.

Chiaotzu
Chiaotzu is Tien's pint-sized telepathic pal. Tien and Chiaotzu's part are never completely revealed, but it is known that Tien will protect Chiaotzu no matter what. Chiaotzu is classified as being an Earthling, so if he belongs to some different race, it isn't known. He stands 4'5" tall and weighs 73 lbs. Chiaotzu can fight very well, but most of his special abilities revolve around telepathy. He can cease a person's movement if he's able to keep his concentration and can talk to Tien by telepathy.

Chi-Chi
Goku's wife and taskmaster extraordinaire. She is the daughter of Gyuu Maou A.K.A. Ox King, who promised his daughter's hand in marriage to Goku when they were just children. Chi-Chi later meets up with Goku at the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai and loses to him. After their match she reminds him who she is, and asks him if he wants to marry her. Goku says, "Sure" (but unfortunately, he has no idea what marriage is). Chi-Chi is known for being very hard on her son Gohan's academic life, and although it doesn't play upon it much in the manga, in the anime, she goes ballistic at some points over her son's study habits (or lack there-of), and Goku's influence on him. Although it's not always shown, she really does love her husband a lot and in the anime there are some sweet scenes between the two.

Coola* - "Kuura"
Coola is Frieza's brother. He is the villain in DBZ Movies 5 and 6. Movie 5 actually takes place in the anime time-line, however, 6 doesn't. Coola has the unique ability to transform to increase his power beyond that of his brother's and thus transform into a fifth form. He's pretty cool as a villain, and shares Frieza's polite mannerisms. In the first few minutes of the movie, it's very clear that he doesn't care about his brother much, and just stays out of his way because he doesn't want to bother with him (a mistake that eventually ends up costing him his life). In Movie 5, Goku blasts him and his Death Ball through the sun with a Kamehameha.

Dende
Dende is the Guru's 108th child. He is a Dragon Type Namekian who is rescued by Gohan and Krillin early in the Frieza Saga. At first he is very quiet and reserved, but later he becomes one of Gohan's best friends. After the fight on Namek is finished, Dende eventually leaves the Earth and goes to New Namek. Several years later, Goku comes to New Namek looking for a new Kami. Muuri suggests that Dende would be a great choice, so Goku takes Dende to Earth to become to new Kami. Dende powers up the Dragonballs after he arrives and allows three wishes to be made at one time.

Dodoria
One of Frieza's top soldiers. He doesn't appear to be powerful (since he's a fat pink blob with spiky bones stretching his skin), but for his size, he's remarkably fast and powerful. He is ruthless and is willing to do any evil task for Frieza. Dodoria is killed by a ki blast from Vegeta. His power level was approximately 22,000.

Dr. Briefs - "Buriifu Hakase"
Born sometime around the year 700 A.D., Dr. Briefs was the founder of the Capsule Corporation. As it's founder, he first invented the Hoi Poi Capsule that allows fast and easy transportation of anything from magazines to entire houses. The Capsule Corporation then delved into the vehicle industry and entered the world market of auto industry in 750 A.D. at which time it held a whopping 40% of the market. Its main competitor was the Red Ribbon Army, which held 16% if the market, but in 778 A.D., the Capsule Corp. dominated with 48% of the market to itself. Although he's a genius, Dr. Briefs is a bit eccentric, and a bit of a pervert (some of his personal capsules are filled with nothing but questionable magazines). Some of his greatest inventions were Goku's modified space ship and Vegeta's 300+g gravity ship.

Future Trunks - "Mirai no Trunks"
Imagine living in a world where you live in fear of going to an amusement park, and world where everyone that was close to you is dead. Just imagine if two devils ruled supreme over the world, taking, playing, and killing as they please. This is the world Trunks comes from. While only a baby, his father, Vegeta, and other adult Z Soldiers were murdered by Androids 17 and 18 (the brother and sister team mechanically enhanced by Dr. Gero). Trunks grew up in a declining world with only his mother, Bulma, and Goku's son, Gohan, by his side. Bulma, believing that if only Goku had not died of a heart virus he received on the planet Yardrat, the future might have turned out differently. And as such, Bulma spends her days, laboring over blue-prints and machinery to create a Time Machine. Her plan: To send her son Trunks into the past to give the medicine to Goku for his heart virus, thus saving the future. But little did she know what she was getting her son into.
Trunks was trained in martial arts and ki control by Gohan. When Gohan is finally killed by the Androids during a solo assault, Trunks is enraged and in the TV Special, this is the event that pushes him over the edge and allows him to become a Super Saiyan. Soft-spoken and polite, Trunks is not your typical teenager. He will not speak out of place and uses formal speech at all times. His respectful and quiet demure is likely a result of his solemn life in the future.
In his first appearance, Trunks appears from seemingly nowhere and rids the universe of the evil Frieza once and for all with the help of his sword. Although the origin of Future Trunks' sword is unknown, Chibi Trunks' sword is supposedly obtained from Tapion the Legendary Brave Warrior. By arriving in the past, Trunks sets off a series of unknown events that leads to a new path in history, with new Androids and enemies. To atone for this, Trunks stays in the past to help the Z Soldiers fight against the new threat. Although his struggle for the future was unsuccessful in his time period, with the power he gained in the past, he was finally able to terminate the Androids and defeat the monstrous Cell, opening the doors to a peaceful future, past, and present.

Frieza - "Furiiza"
is, of course, the greatest villain to walk the face of the Universe. He's basically the head of a huge "company" that goes around purging planets of life, and then selling them to the highest bidder. Or, if he's so inclined and in the right mood, he may just wipe out a planet for fun. Frieza sees himself as the most powerful being in the Universe, with no equal. However, Frieza's greatest fear was the legendary Super Saiyan, and by wiping out all but 3 Saiyans, he figured that he would have been safe. Well, yeah, he might have been, unfortunately he missed one, Goku. Frieza has the ability to upgrade his power 3 different times, and each time he upgrades, his body actually changes to become suitable for his power. Once he powers up a third time, he has the ability to charge up to 100% energy. Frieza is supposedly killed by Goku on Namek; however, he's found and rebuilt by his father, King Cold. He goes to Earth to seek revenge, and there he's sliced and diced by Trunks and goes to Hell.

Garlic* - "Gariku"
The father of Garlic Jr. born in the year 300 A.D. He competed with the original Piccolo for the seat of Kami, but was not able to ascend to the throne because the previous Kami saw his evil ambitions. He revolted, but was sealed away in a negative space.

Garlic Jr.* - "Gariku Jyuniya"
Garlic's son born to complete his father's fream and take vengeance on Kami. He was the main villain in DBZ Movie1. At the end of the movie he was sealed in the Dead Zone, but later reappeared in the anime after the Frieza Saga with some more evil compadres, but was sealed away in the Dead Zone again.

Guldo - "Gurudo"
The smallest and least powerful member of the Ginyu Force. Guldo is a squat green alien for four eyes. While he may be weak, he possesses some fantastic abilities. He can freeze time for as long as he can hold his breath, and his ultimate move is his ability to telepathically freeze his opponents in place. He is decapitated by Vegeta.

Ginyu
Leader of the Ginyu Force, Frieza's elite squad of five fantastic fighters. Ginyu possesses the strongest power of any of the Ginyu Tokusentai (120,000) but even more devastating than his power, is his ability to change bodies with a victim. Ginyu is the only member of the Ginyu Force to live through the encounter on Namek.

Great Saiyaman - "Gureto Saiyaman"
Gohan's "alter-ego" during his high-school life. He dons a helmet, a green suit and a white mantle, and a special watch invented by Bulma that helps him change his outfit from normal to super-hero. Later on, he replaces the helmet with a bandana and sunglasses so that he can legally participate in the Tenkaichi Budoukai (wearing a type of armor is a no-no). In the manga he performs a couple good deeds, but in the anime he's elevated to Super Man status and does all sorts of wonderful things for Satan City. Aside from being a hero, he's also famous for his "cool" poses, which are a direct blot to Sailor Moon. He makes a series of ridiculous movements while spouting off phrases like, "Wherever evil lurks and destroys the hopes of good people, the Great Saiyaman will be three for protection!"

Great Saiyaman 2* - "Gureto Saiyaman 2 Gou"
In the anime and DBZ Movie 13, "Dragon Fist Assault!! If Goku Can't do it, Who Can??", Videl teams up with Gohan on his crusade of justice. She wears an outfit similar to his, but it's visibly got a woman's touch.

Gogeta - "Gojita"
The washboard stomached result of Fusion by Goku and Vegeta. Gogeta only appears in DBZ Movie 12, "Rebirth of Fusion! Goku and Vegeta!!", and in Dragon Ball GT. Gogeta is fantastically powerful and takes out Janenba effortlessly in Movie 12, and would probably have done the same thing to Li Shenron if he weren't so cocky (a side-effect of Fusion).

Gohan - "Son Gohan"
Gohan is Goku and Chi-Chi's first son who is named after Goku's adoptive grandfather, Gohan (although the anime kinda makes up a different reason for it). He was born in the year 757 A.D. and when he first appears in the series, he's four years old (contrary to what the English version says). Gohan's story is long and involved, but the most important fact about Gohan is that he has the potential to be the strongest character in the series, but due to his studies, he is less powerful than his father. He marries Videl and they have a tomboyish daughter named Pan.

Goku - "Son Gokou"
Goku is the main character of Dragon Ball/Z/GT. He was born in the year 737 on the Planet Vegeta and came to Earth to destroy the earthlings living on it, and prepare it for sale by Emperor Frieza. Fortunately, he fell over a cliff one day when his adoptive grandfather Gohan was strolling through the forest with him. he bonking his noggin and lost the memories of his mission. Although Goku is by blood a Saiyan, he refers to himself as "The Saiyan raised on Earth," because although he doesn't want to deny his roots, he also doesn't want to declre himself a member of a group that destroyed galaxies without a second thought. In the year 756 A.D. he marries Chi-Chi, and in May of 757 A.D., Chi-Chi gives birth to their first child, Gohan. Skipping ahead, sometime before May in 767, their second child Goten is born. Goku does twice during Dragon Ball Z (manga). The first time is by Piccolo's hand while restraining his brother Raditz, and the second time was when he teleported Cell to King Kai's planet so that Cell would detonate "safely." after his first death, he was brought back to life with the Dragonballs, and after his second death, revered Kaioshin gave his life to Goku. Later in Dragon Ball GT, Goku leaves with Shenron, but whether he's dead or not is not revealed, it's up to the viewer to decide. Goku's home address in Mount Paozu is 439 East District. At the end of Dragon Ball Z, Goku is 48 years old, and that's even including his year spent in the Room of Spirit and Time (Hyperbolic Time Chamber). At his fully grown state he stands 5'"tall and weighs 137 lbs.

Goten - "Son Goten"
Goku's second son, born in the year 767 A.D. Goten is able to turn Super Saiyan at a much earlier age than his brother and father due to the fact that he was born when his father was much stronger. Goten resembles his father very much, and his facial features are almost identical to Goku's except that his face is just slightly rounder. Goten is famous for his miss-pronunciation of his father's move, "Kamehameha!", and aside from that has only one other attack which is called "Totsugeki!", which translates to . . . Attack!

Gotenks
The mini-washboard stomached result of Fusion between Trunks and Goten. Gotenks looks small, but he's a powerhouse. He battles again Majin Boo on two separate occasions. The first time is when he first successfully becomes Gotenks (Trunks and Goten's previous attempts were very unsuccessful), and he loses pitifully. In the manga the fight isn't shown, but it is in the anime. The second occasion is the famous battle in the Room of Spirit and Time between him and Super Boo. The battle later expands to Kami's Palace (which gets completely destroyed), and even further along, down it concludes to Earth. During the fight, Akira Toriyama returns to his gag style of animation and writing. This is evident through the attacks, which he makes up for Gotenks, such as Miracle Super Punch, Great Kick Special, and Galactica Donut. While many of his attacks are just a waste of time, he's the only other Saiyan besides Goku who attains Super Saiyan 3, which is a valuable asset in his battle against Boo. Unfortunately, he toys with Boo because of the cockiness that results from Fusion, and defuses before he can destroy Boo.

Gregory - "Guregori"
This is King Kai's motor-mouth pupil, a little flying cricket named Gregory. He only shows up in the anime and in a couple movies. He's very respectful of his master and always speaks highly of him, but he'll talk trash to anyone he doesn't believe is better than him.

Guru - ""
The elder of the Nameks. The Guru is a Namekian who has almost infinite wisdom and some fantastic techniques. He can read minds, asexually reproduce, awaken hidden powers, and even create Dragonballs. Guru created the Namekian Dragonballs and modeled the Namek dragon, Porunga, after an image he saw in a dream.

Hercule A.K.A. Mr. Satan - "Misuta Satan"
The World Champion, Hercule! Hercule is basically the luckiest guy in all of DBZ. Majority of the people on Earth believe that he's the strongest man in the world who defeated Cell and Boo, thus rescuing the entire human race. He becomes a huge celebrity and even has a city named after him. In reality, Hercule is indeed a very strong human, but he's absolutely nothing compared to Goku and the Z Soldiers.

Jackie Chun
Master Roshi's alter-ego during the 21st and 22nd Tenkaichi Budoukais. He removes his sunglasses, glues some hair to his head, and puts on a black fighting costume, similar to the one Jet Li wore in Lethal Weapon 4. He hides the fact that he's really Master Roshi because he wants his students (Goku and Krillin) to compete against him full force without holding any reservations or emotions.

Jeice - "Jiisu"
A member of the Ginyu Force, Jeice's specialty is his combination of speed and powerful techniques. He's not as fast as Burter, or as powerful as Recoome, but he's a happy medium between the two of them. He's killed by Vegeta.

Kami - "Kami Samma"
Botn in the year 250 A.D. on the planet Namek, he was the son of Katastu and sent to Earth for fear that the planet would be destroyed by violent storms. He grew up alone on Earth, and eventually (this part is never fully explained), felt the ambition to be Kami. So he trained under the current Kami and in 431 A.D. he ascended to the throne. He ruled until 767 A.D. when he rejoined with Piccolo to grant him more power and knowledge.

King Cold - "Korudo Ou"
Frieza's father who accompanies him on his trip to Earth to seek revenge on Goku. It's a wonder than Frieza is so tiny, because King Cold is huge. Think, that devil guy from the movie Legend, but without all the red makeup. He's stronger than his son, but as Trunks proves, the bigger they are . . . you know the rest. He's killed when Trunks makes a breathing hole through his chest and then annihilates him with a point blank ki attack.

King Vegeta - "Vegeta Ou"
The ruler of Planet Vegeta, and the strongest adult Saiyan on his planet. King Vegeta is only mentioned in the manga, but he's seen in the movies and during the anime. There's one scene in particular in which King Vegeta gives his son Vegeta a lecture about how important pride is (hence Vegeta's strong sense of pride). King Vegeta is killed by Frieza in the anime, when he leads a small revolt against the emperor.

Korin - "Karin"
Korin is the 800-year-old cat that lives at the top of Korin Tower. He is a deity just below the rank of Kami. He plays a large role in Dragon Ball when he trains Goku (although Goku doesn't know it at the time). He also gives Goku the Super God Water, which gives him the power to defeat Piccolo Daimaou. In addition to that, Korin is the only one who grows Senzu beans, which heals wounds and are equivalent to eating 10 days worth of food. Yajirobe ends up living with him in the tower. Korin's address is FFA44195SQ.

Krillin - "Kuririn"
Krillin is a member of the Orinji Temple, a sect of monks. The six dots on his head are scars, which are burned into the forehead of each member. Contrary to a popular belief, he is not bald. He shaves his head so that an opponent cannot grab his hair in a fight. During the seven years after the Cell Game, he lets his hair grow back. His wife is the vexing Android 18 and their daughter's name is Maron. He was born in the year 736 A.D. and is one year older than his best friend Goku.

Little Trunks - "Chibi Trunks"
A lot of people say that Little Trunks is "spoiled and a complete brat," a complete contrast to Future Trunks. That's not true. Trunks is simply like any normal eight year old. Although Future Trunks is very polite and acts very different from an eight year old (which would seem obvious since he's practically an adult), Little Trunks can be seen developing into the same type of person that Future Trunks was during the end of Dragon Ball Z, and through Dragon Ball GT. However, there is a big difference between the two that no on ever seems to touch upon. Little Trunks is filled with pride much like his father. He has little faith in Goku when he arrives, and doesn't believe that he's any stronger than his father (until he feels Goku's ki when he turns Super Saiyan 3). Trunks also defends his father valiantly when Boo attacks him, and is angered by the fact that someone like his dad could be beat up so easily. Little Trunks is also very adventurous and is always looking to fight strong opponents. Another myth is that Goten is hesitant to embark on adventures with Trunks. Goten and Trunks both go nuts when they hear about Majin Boo and can't wait to see him (and fight him). Trunks was born in the year 766 A.D. and was eighteen years old when Dragon Ball Z ended. Like Goten, he had the ability to turn Super Saiyan from an early age.

Majin Boo - "Majin Buu"
Although he changes countless times, Boo was originally created by the magician Bibidi at around five million B.C. As a magical weapon, Boo went from planet to planet destroying life, boo was finally sealed up by Bibidi. Much later, Babidi locates the sphere his father sealed Boo in. He starts to form a very small group of soldiers and begins his quest to resurrect Boo. Lots more years pass and Boo is finally resurrected in 774 A.D. He does Babidi's bidding, and strikes out on his own. He befriends Hercule (Mr. Satan) and reforms himself. All is well with the world. Until a few sick and demented human's tick him off. Not a good thing. There goes the universe . . .

Maron
Maron is Krillin and Android 18's daughter. As a baby she resembles her father, but when she gets older she looks more like her mom. Not much is seen of her in Dragon Ball Z, and she doesn't fight at all, but it's clear that she loves both of her parents very much.

Master Roshi - "Muten Roshi"
Born in the year 430 A.D.. Master Roshi became the strongest man in the world after his sensei was killed by invoking the Mafuba technique on Piccolo Daimaou. He participated in many Tenkaichi Budoukais and won every one he participated in, up to the 22nd Tenkaichi Budoukai. Then, in 749 A.D., he met Goku. In September of that year, he began training Goku and Krillin. After that, the rest was history. He is later surpassed by all of the Z Soldiers but never loses his fighting spirit. He is a pervert who owns the world's largest collection of dirty magazines. He is 5'4" tall and weighs 97 lbs. His home address is NBI8250012B.

Mr. Popo - "Misuta Popo"
Mr. Popo is Kami's faithful servant. He's lived a very long time and has served all the previous Kamis. His tasks are basically to tend to the Palace, and to take acre of Kami. He is quite strong and fast, even though he doesn't appear to be. When Goku first arrived at Kami's Palace, Mr. Popo was much stronger than him. he trained Goku for three years and taught him techniques that would later prove invaluable, such as the ability to sense ki.

Nail - "Neiru"
The most powerful Soldier Type Namekian and the Guru's personal guardian. His max power level is 42,000. He faces off against Frieza, but is beaten horribly by him, and left to die when Frieza finds out that the dragon had been summoned. Later on, he merges with Piccolo.

Nappa
A Super Elite Saiyan born on the Planet Vegeta. In the anime, he's shown to be sort of a bodyguard for Vegeta when he was a child. In the manga, they're just shown as fellow soldiers. Nappa is not stupid, although he would appear that way. He loses control of himself at times when someone shows up, but he's usually well composed (for a killer, that is). His power level is 4,000, which is light years beyond most of the Z Soldiers' at the time he and Vegeta show up on Earth, except Goku's, of course. At the time of his death, he was 50 years old. Nappa is not bald. He shaves his head by choice, so, just like Krillin, his opponents can't grab his hair in battle.

Oob - "Uubu"
The good reincarnation of Boo as a human. He's a little black boy from a poor village who Goku meets at the 28th Tenkaichi Budoukai. At first he seems to have no power, but when Goku makes him angry, his true power shows and he even hurts Goku's arm when he kicks it. He agrees to go with Goku to train at Kami's Palace so that he can control and improve his power. He was born just a few months after Boo was killed in the year 774 A.D.

Oolong
A little dirty-minded pig. He plays a large role in Dragon Ball, but by the end of Dragon Ball Z, he just shows up from time to time. His favorite hobby is collecting panties. He was born in the year 740 A.D. He's 3'9" tall and weighs 71 lbs.

Ox King - "Gyuu Maou"
Despite his threatening sounding name, Ox King is really quite harmless and fun-loving. He was slightly annoyed when his castle became engulfed in flames on Mount Frypan and wreaked havoc through the village at the foot of the mountain. He is Chi-Chi's father and thus Goku's father-in-law. He's very strong and trained along-side Grandpa Gohan under Master Roshi's training.

Pan
Pan is Gohan and Videl's daughter (therefore, Goku's granddaughter), born in the year 779 A.D. She competes in the 28th Tenkaichi Budoukai when she's only five years old and proves that she definitely has her father's blood in her by completely wrecking her opponents (even Goten!). Pan plays a very large role in Dragon Ball GT.

Piccolo the Great Demon King - "Piccolo Daimaou"
Piccolo Daimaou is the incarnation of evil. When the original Piccolo became God, his soul needed to be cleansed of all evil. The evil side of him was removed and became Piccolo Daimaou. Daimaou wreaked havoc all over the Earth. But the big problem was, he and Kami were still the same person and if one was killed, the other would die also. Master Roshi's teacher, Mutaito, stood up to Daimaou and induced the suicidal Mafuba sealing attack. Mutaito's attack succeeded in sealing Daimaou inside the Denshi Jar in the year 461 A.D., but of course he died as a result. However, in 753 A.D., Pilaf frees Daimaou from the Denshi Jar, and he works towards world conquest again. He almost succeeds too, but he's stopped by the combined efforts of Tien and Goku. Goku propels himself through Daimaou's chest, leaving a hole in him the size of a beach ball. But before he dies, he spits out an egg, containing . . . Piccolo.

Piccolo (Demon Junior) - "Ma Jyunia"
Piccolo is the reincarnation of his father Piccolo Daimaou. Many people think it's a plot hole that Kami is still alive after Daimaou is killed. Well, it's not because Daimaou lives on in Piccolo. Piccolo retains all of his father's memories and abilities, however, he does have something that his father didn't. A conscience. When Piccolo first appears during the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai, he's incredibly brutal and seriously has it in for Goku. The next time he shows up to assist Goku in defeating Raditz, he still has no feelings for Goku ad would kill him just as soon as he'd kill Raditz . . which . . . uh . . . he does. But that's besides the point. As he's forced to train Goku's child to be a warrior, Piccolo becomes attached to the child, but never once hints it. (As opposed to the English version where he practically pampers the kid.) Piccolo finally becomes reformed when he sacrifices his life to save Gohan's. From that moment, he loses desire to conquer Earth. (Sometimes he lets his anger get the best of him, and says bad things, but he's not serious.) Later on, Piccolo fuses with Mail increasing his power level over 1,000,000 allowing him to go one-on-one with Stage 2 Frieza. And in the middle of the Android Saga, he fuses with his other half, Kami, and becomes the true original Piccolo once again. His various fusions do not change him physically, but internally he retains the memories of both Kami and Nail. After fusing with Kami, Piccolo becomes even more philosophical than he normally is (hard to imagine), and takes actions that put him in danger for the sake of the Earth (such as sealing himself, Gotenks, and Boo in the Room of Spirit and Time). After fusing with Kami, Piccolo makes Kami's Palace his home, and he always has a special place for Gohan in his heart through the rest of the series.

Porunga
This is the Namekian equivalent of Shenron (five times larger to be exact), and when he's first introduced, he has some advantages over to Earth's Shenron, like being able to grant three wishes at once. Puar
Puar is Yamcha's friend born in the year 740 A.D. He and Yamcha met in the year 747 A.D. and became inseparable. They work as a team to rob people who came through the desert. Puar has the ability to change his shape into any form and he can hold that form as long as he likes, but his strength is not increased and he can't turn into something that can get used up (like food). He shows up quite a bit in the beginning, but he becomes less of a presence as the series progresses.

Raditz - "Raditzu"
Goku's older brother who is one of the four survivors of the destruction of Planet Vegeta. He comes to Earth searching for his brother to force him to come work with him and the remaining Saiyans. Although the word "work" really means destroying planets and wiping out entire civilizations.

Recoome - "Riikuumu"
Recoome the second strongest member of the Ginyu Force, and perhaps the cockiest. He has a plethora of attacks to his credit, and most of them are named simple stupid things like "Recoome Kick!" or in the anime "Recoome Body Attack!". Recoome is K.O.'ed with a single punch from Goku and later killed by Vegeta.

Saibamen - "Saibai Men"
These are little foot soldiers that Saiyans can utilize whenever they don't want to get their hands dirty. The creatures are actually grown in soil. First a seed is planted is planted, then a special solution is poured on top of each seed, and voila! Instant chaos! The creatures are brutal and random, but they always obey their master. Each is fairly strong with a power level of 1,200, but their best technique is a kamikaze explosion tactic. An example of this can be seen when Yamcha is killed.

Sharpener - "Shyapuna"
Your typical High School jock. He participates in sports and different clubs. He torments Gohan for a bit in school (which Gohan doesn't even recognize as such), but later befriends Gohan when he sees that Gohan is capable of catching baseballs 20 feet in the air and taking a fast-ball directly to the face without flinching. In the anime, he embarks on a quest to reveal the identity of the Great Saiyaman during the 25th Tenkaichi Budoukai, which Gohan reveals anyway.

Shenron
Created in the year 470 A.D., Shenron is the dragon god who appears when all seven Dragon Balls are gathered in one place and a person utters, "Come out Shenron!"

Tao Pai Pai (General Tao in America)
Tao Pai Pai is a world-renowned assassin employed by the Red Ribbon Army to take out Goku and locate several Dragon Balls. After the Red Ribbon saga, he returns as a cyborg and faces off Tien during the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai. He wants to settle a score with the "traitor." (Tao Pai Pai is Crane Elder's brother and Tien was Crane Elder's former student.) During the match Tao Pai Pai whips out a knife from his mechanical arm and slashes Tien across the chest, leaving him scarred for the rest of his life. Tien K.O.'s Tao Pai Pai with a swift powerful punch later in the match. Tao Pai Pai reappears later in the anime during the Cell Saga. Tao Pai Pai is 5'8" tall and weighs 155 and ˝ lbs.

Tien - "Tenshinhan"
Tien is the "walking mountain of muscle" who looks a bit like Sagat from Street Fighter. Tien is classified as being a human. It may be odd that he has three eyes, but keep in mind, Krillin doesn't have a nose. Tien's past is never fully revealed, but somehow in life he became best friends with Chiaotzu. He treats Chiaotzu like a son, and if you really want to tick this guy off, then you only need to badmouth his little buddy, since he defends him fiercely. These two are always training together in a wilderness area. Tien is 6'1" tall and is the second tallest Z Soldier. He weighs 166 lbs.

Videl - "Bideru"
Mr. Satan's daughter and perhaps the strongest non-Z Soldier human. Videl was born in 756 A.D. and grew up for the most part with just her dad. She becomes suspicious of Gohan when he shows up suddenly at Orange Star High School, so she shadows him for a short time to find out more about him. Eventually she discovers his secret identity as the Great Saiyaman and forces Gohan to teach her how to fly. She learns how to fly and starts to develop a liking for him. Over the course of time, Videl learns everything about Gohan and his family and friends (such as the fact that it was Gohan who defeated Cell and her father is actually a weakling compared to all of them). Videl and Gohan get married sometime after the Boo Saga and have a daughter named Pan. You'll notice that Videl's name is a pun along the line of her father's name. When you rearrange the letters it spells "devil."

Vegeta - "Vegita"
Vegeta is the Prince of the former Saiyan race. He was born in 732 A.D. and was destined for the greatest when as a child, his power level exceeded that of even his father's. Although cocky and self-righteous, he later admits his faults, including the fact that Goku has always been stronger than him, and is resurrected when all the good people who died since Boo arrived are brought back to life. Vegeta does marry Bulma, although the exact date is unknown. It can be assumed that it was sometime between the end of the Cell Saga, and before the Boo Saga. He has two children, Trunks and Bra.

Vegetto (Vegito)
Vegetto is a result of the fusion caused by the Potara earring between Goku and Vegeta. Vegetto is extraordinarily powerful, however, like all fusion characters, he's also extremely cocky and thus plays with Boo, rather than getting right to the point and killing him. In the anime, Vegetto is around for quite a few episodes, but his role in the manga is short lived. Fusion by the Potara earrings is supposed to be forever, however, Boo absorbs Vegetto and in order to break down his components so that he can actually gain power from him, Boo's enzymes break down Vegetto into Goku and Vegeta again.

Yamcha - "Yamucha"
Born in 733 A.D., Yamcha began as a common thief. He stole Capsules from wanderers who traveled through his desert with the help of his friend Puar. Yamcha originally wanted to make a wish with the Dragon Balls to do away with his horrible fear of women, but during the time that he shadows Bulma and the others, be learns to deal with females, and becomes Bulma's boyfriend. Yamcha is 6' tall and weighs 151 lbs.

Zarbon - "Zaabon"
Frieza's right hand man and all around crony. Not much information is given on this character, but he does have the ability to transform in order to increase his power level. However, in his transformed state he's a disgusting creature, as opposed to his handsome features in his normal state. He hates transforming because he doesn't like his beautiful figure to become distorted (he's a pretty boy), but he does it to take on Vegeta. His normal power level is 23,000.
