GundamWing
How to Write GW Fanfics
*By Mari*

Gundam Fanficmon, Gotta catch 'em all!

So, you want to write a Gundam Wing Fanfic right? You gotta great idea for a story. It's fun, original and new! But don't make yourself a laughing stock by writing the boys out of character (abriv. OOC), unless you are purposely aiming for humor! I'm sure you've read a fanfic and said to yourself, "Yeah right! Heero would never do that! Or Relena would never say that!" You've read 'em and it drove you nuts. (or made you laugh). Avoid this problem by writing like a pro and Know your characters.

There are several ways to approach writing the fanfics. You could watch all 49 episodes over and over, analyze each characters psychological make-up, spend hours sitting in meditation on the Tao of Duo. Or try some of these nifty tricks to save you time and humiliation.

  1. The Character Chart: This is my favorite method and one of the easiest. I've taken the liberty of filling out a character chart for each main Pilot. Feel free to use this chart. There are also tips to writing each Char.
    Heero Yuy
    Duo Maxwell
    Trowa Barton
    Quatre Raberba Winner
    Chang Wufei

  2. Web Research: Thanks to the thousands of fans, you can find all kinds of biographys that give a good outline of the character. But, to write good fanfic, you should be familiar with some episodes.

  3. Plan out your Story! I love to read fanfics. The only reason I haven't read a whole lot is because some are so darn long-winding and neverending! Don't get me wrong, there are many long, well written fanfics. Just keep in mind that stories should have an end and plot and some kind of conflict. ;)

  4. Who's listening? Think about your audience. Who are you aiming the story at? Love-sick romantics, adrenaline hungry action freaks, some inside friends, young, old? In most fanfics, assume that the audience has seen the show. Sometimes a lost wanderer may stumble upon it but that's their problem. :D

  5. Grammar and Spelling: yes, your English teacher is your friend. No one likes bad spelling. Bad grammar is only reserved for quotes. Like "I don't want no beans!" Poor spelling may be used to create an 'accent' "Hee hee, yew foo' Your trippin'!" In any other case, Grab the dictionary!

  6. Proofread! read over what you write, spell check can't catch all your mistakes!

I'm done now. Write on! Be original.
