Genre: Sci-Fi (Action themed, but not as dependent of it) Length: 90 minutes (Full length theatrical film) Audience: 16 Up Opinion: An above average story for a sloppily edited OVA to movie conversion. This is a review of the dubbed VHS release. A film by Hiroyuki Ochi. |
In
2179, a random year in the not too distant future thrown on to the back
of the tape box, Mars has been colonized and at least in the city of Saint
Lowel, it has been fairly well developed. For former Chicago Police Detective
Ross Sylibus, this would seemingly be a great place to restart after helplessly
watching his partner killed in front of him that is until he is pulled
into a murder case upon landing in his new home by his new partner Naomi
Armitage, the badge toting terror in hot pants. To make matters worse,
this is not a typical murder case since the victim was a nearly perfect
human replicant. The assailant, Rene D'anclaude, is not finished with his killing as he broadcasts the names of other female replicants, declared as thirds, to gain support for his cause from a working class that is losing jobs to robots. If this did not make Ross's troubles difficult enough, he must figure out why Armitage is exceptionally determined to stop the villain by using the unusual motivation of vengeance. |
